Rumor Central: Ice Cube Returning for ‘xXx: The Return of Xander Cage’

Surprisingly, I’m not really upset about this rumor. Anyone who’s seen xXx: State of the Union knows how forgettable and utterly ridiculous that movie was. Yet, hearing that Ice Cube could potentially return as Agent Darius Stone is something I’m open to.

This new xXx movie (unofficially titled The Return of Xander Cage) is bringing back Vin Diesel in the lead role as Xander Cage, which means at most Cube would be in a supporting role. I think this could be good role for Cube, who isn’t the best actor but can be serviceable, especially in a movie like this. Also, we’ve never seen two xXx agents working together, and with names like Tony Jaa and Jet Li as possible antagonists (the latter confirmed) it makes sense that Xander could enlist help.

I will say that if director D.J. Caruso ends up making Ice Cube try and fight either Tony Jaa or Jet Li, then I’ll be there opening night to see how that turns out. As for Ice Cube coming back to franchise, I don’t see why not. As producer of Fast & Furious, Diesel has managed to help make Ludacris & Tyrese Gibson fan favorites. I bet he can somehow redeem Cube’s character and make him awesome. Check out the rumor below (via. Moviehole).

Cube’s Darius Stone will be “a treat this time around – very funny, lots of great lines and he gets in on some terrific action sequences”, we’re informed by a solid source. -Moviehole

How does Ice Cube possibly returning affect your anticipation for this long-delayed sequel?

xXx: The Return of Xander Cage will release in 2017. Samuel L. Jackson will return as Agent Gibsons, and is joined by newcomers Conor McGregor, Nina Dobrev, Deepika Padukone, and Ruby Rose.
