Character bios and analysis for the Fantastic Four were promised in 2015, ahead of that summer’s reboot. The reboot came and went; the four characters remain the most durable family in comics, and the question people actually bring to this page is the personality one. So: the bios, properly done, and then a real test.
The four, in brief
Reed Richards. Mister Fantastic. The smartest man in the room and the last to notice the room. Elasticity is the joke made flesh: a man who can stretch to reach anything except, reliably, his own family. Solves everything by thinking, apologises by inventing.
Sue Storm, the Invisible Woman. The team’s actual center of gravity, wearing the most ironic codename in comics: force fields, flight, and the job of holding four egos in formation. The power set is defensive; the person is not.
Johnny Storm, the Human Torch. Impulse with a flame trim. The youngest-sibling energy of the group: showboat, test pilot, the one who treats catastrophe as content. Burns hottest, forgives fastest.
Ben Grimm, the Thing. Reed’s oldest friend, the pilot who paid the transformation’s full price: the only one who cannot pass for human. The saddest bio and the best company, comics’ great argument that toughness and tenderness are the same trait under load.

What 2015 did to these four
The 2015 film cast the bios well (Teller’s Reed, Mara’s Sue, Jordan’s Johnny, Bell’s Ben) and then famously failed them: a production whose director-versus-studio overhaul left visible seams (the reshoot wig entered legend), a third act missing its connective tissue, and a public disowning on release eve. The analysis promised above ends there: the characters survived the film, as they have survived every film, because the bios above are the durable property, a family whose powers literalise their personalities. The circled-4 logo the searches ask about says the same thing: not a symbol, a headcount. Marvel’s own reboot a decade on started from exactly that reading, and the 2015 cast’s best member got his redemption arc elsewhere on this site — Michael B.
