8 Important Things You May Have Missed in the ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ 2nd Trailer

The first movie following the epic film Avengers: Endgame will be quickly upon us in July as Spider-Man: Far From Home is the first movie to follow the events of Avengers: Endgame. While many assume a movie like Endgame would be the final chapter in Phase 3 of the MCU, it turns out that it is not and instead Spider-Man: Far From Home is the final movie in Phase 3. We had previously gotten a trailer for the sequel movie, but knew that it was heavily altered and content held back due to the fact that Avengers: Endgame had yet to be released. Well now that we know what happened in that movie, we now know a lot more about the direction that Spider-Man: Far From Home is going to take us and boy is it crazy. So we are going to be breaking down 12 important things we learned from the trailer and what we know now that we have watched it. This post is considered a SPOILER if you have yet to see Avengers: Endgame!

1. Peter’s Struggling with Tony’s Death

Spider-Man: Far From Home Tom Holland

We all know the fate of Tony Stark by now and how we lost the character from Avengers: Endgame, but it seems that Peter Parker is taking the death of Tony Stark extremely hard. The relationship between the two is a very touching one that extends all the way back to Spider-Man’s introduction in Captain America: Civil War. We know that Tony figured out who Peter was and recruited him to fight on his side in the movie. Tony really integrated himself into Peter’s life, as he met Aunt May, helped Peter learn to control his powers and what it takes to be a hero.

We never got an introduction to Peter’s Uncle Ben, which turns out to be a good thing as we have seen that story twice now, and instead Tony kind of took over that role in the MCU. But now that he is gone, Peter is trying to learn how to live in a life where his mentor is gone and he has gone through life changing changes. It’ll be interesting to see how Peter grows through the movie and how he learns to accept and move on from the death of Tony Stark. It will be emotionally to watch on the screen because a lot of us are going to be feeling the same way too.

2. The Iron Spider Suit

Spider-Man: Far From Home Tom Holland

Something that we found interesting was the fact that in the beginning of the trailer we see that Spider-Man is fighting criminals in New York, but instead of wearing the Spider-Man suit that we know from Captain America: Civil War and Spider-Man: Homecoming, he is still wearing the suit that he got in Avengers: Infinity War. It’s interesting that he would still be wearing that suit, because that is a pretty high tech suit for fighting crime in New York City. We also know that he will be getting a handful of different suits when he leaves for Europe because he chose to leave the traditional suit behind. It’s an interesting thing to see that will more than likely be explained in the movie.

3. Is Peter Parker the next Iron Man?

Spider-Man: Far From Home Tom Holland

There is one line in the trailer that has a lot of people talking, no it’s not the first one your thinking of, it’s the line that one of the police officers says when they ask Spider-Man, “Are you going to be the next Iron Man?” First things first that is absolute confirmation that the world knows that Tony Stark is dead. It’s an obvious that the world would find out, but it is now confirmation. Second is now that Iron Man is gone, who is going to take his place. While most of us would emphatically say “NO ONE CAN REPLACE IRON MAN!”, that doesn’t mean literally, but could mean a number of things.

The first is now that Tony is gone and he was the primary defender of New York, does that responsibility fall to Spider-Man? Second, Peter Parker we know is pretty brilliant, maybe not as much as Tony, but is extremely smart. Could he be the one to take over the technology aspect that Tony had, creating all these gizmo’s and gadgets for future characters? We know in the comics that Peter Parker finds himself to be a bit of an inventor, so does that mean we could see the beginning of Parker Industries? It’s a cool thought.

Finally, could the role of leader of the Avengers fall to the responsibility of Spider-Man? We don’t know where the other characters are and who is where in the world, so is Spider-Man the biggest protector of the good old USA in the MCU? It is has a lot of people wondering, but we don’t think anyone is going to be “replacing” Iron Man, but instead maybe just filling the emotional gap that Tony left behind.

4. Mysterio

Spider-Man: Far From Home Mysterio Jake Gyllenhaal

We all knew coming into this movie that Mysterio was going to be making his grand appearance into the MCU and that Jake Gyllenhaal was going to be the actor portraying him. We know that in the comics Mysterio aka Quentin Beck has taken on many different roles in the comics. He is most known as a Master of Illusions as he is a special effects master and illusionist in the comics, while in other versions he has actual powers as well as being a master hypnotist and magician. Regardless of both, either or has the power to deceit people into believing something that isn’t always what you see. Enter this movies version.

In the trailer we see that Peter meets Quentin Beck, or as Nick Fury introduces him as Mr. Beck, in what seems to be a secret location underground. What is most shocking is that Peter is revealing himself as Spider-Man by showing him his face. (Something that we will address later) Through out the trailer we see that Mr. Beck almost kind of takes on a mentoring role to Peter as he is still trying to reel from the events of Endgame. This making us believe that he is in fact a good guy, but remember Mysterio is a master of deception.

Another interesting thing we see throughout the trailer is that Mysterio seems to fight with this green sort of energy that radiates from his hands. From what we see, it really seems that Mysterio is going to have some sort of actual powers. Could he be connected to magic in the MCU? It would definitely be interesting especially since Magic has been introduced ever since Doctor Strange made his debut. Again everything with Quentin Beck isn’t always what it may seem, so don’t be surprised if he isn’t what he says he is.

5. The Multiverse

Spider-Man: Far From Home Tom Holland Mysterio Jake Gyllenhaal

Well ladies and gentlemen the time has finally arrived. For the second time in 23 total movies, we now have confirmation that a character has uttered the word “Multiverse.” The first time was in Doctor Strange, mentioned by the Ancient One. We all know how big of a deal the multiverse is in Marvel comics, and it was always only a matter of time before it made some sort of presence into the MCU. Well with the events of Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, it seems that the infinity stones have now opened up the Multiverse to the MCU.

We know that the infinity gauntlet has been used a total of four times. Once by Thanos when he snapped in Infinity War, another time to destroy the stones in Endgame, once by Hulk, and once by Iron Man. Due to all that usage of the stones, it has had untold effects on the universe. In the trailer Nick Fury says ” the snap tore a hole in our dimension.” This has a lot of potential implications moving forward with the MCU. If he is telling the truth and the multiverse is real, this could be an introduction to a lot of future MCU characters including the Fantastic 4 and the X-Men who were previously owned by Fox and not in the MCU or their plans.

Nick Fury also says something interesting when he sas “Mr. Beck is from Earth just not ours” leading us to assume that there is another Earth in the multiverse. Also in a clip of the movie shortly released after on the Ellen talk show, Mysterio reveals he is from Earth 833. Now again, we know that Mysterio is a master in deception so he could be lying, but what is also interesting is the number that he said, Earth 833. Earth 833 happens to be the home of another superhero, Spider-UK.

Spider-UK is the Earth 833 version of Spider-Man, except he is based out of the United Kingdom, which just happens to be in Europe which is where Spider-Man: Far From Home takes place.  But what is really interesting is his Spider-UK’s true identity and real name, which is William “Bill” Braddock. Does the name Braddock sound familiar? That’s because in Avengers: Endgame, Peggy Cater says that Agent Braddock hasn’t reported in, which has multiple implications. First is that it could be Spider-UK. Second is what many people originally believed was that it is Brian Braddock who is known as Captain Britain, which would be very interesting because his sister is the X-Men known as Psylocke. An interesting connection if they plan to introduce X-Men from an alternate universe. There are NEVER coincidences in the MCU, so the name Braddock said in Avengers: Endgame means something, its just a matter of what.

6. The Elementals

Spider-Man: Far From Home Elementals

Back before the first trailer came out for Spider-Man: Far From Home, we had heard rumors that The Elementals would be appearing in the film and would be the primary bad guys for the movie. Then the trailer came out and we had gotten glimpses of 3 out of the 4 Elementals in actual form, with the fourth being speculated over the London Bridge. Well now we have confirmation that The Elementals will in fact be in Spider-Man: Far From Home due to their presence in the trailer. What is also interesting is that Marvel has chosen not to use The Elementals from the comics that consists of four masters of the elements who are essential gods.

Instead of using The Elementals that are immortal gods, Marvel has decided to take characters typically associated with certain earthly elements and use those to form The Elementals. That means that the more than likely the giant water monster will be Hydro-Man, the fire monster will be Molten Man, and the sand monster will be Sandman. That is only 3 of the 4 Elementals, leaving to us to wonder who is the “Air” element that is attacking the London Bridge. If you look closely, it almost looks like a combination of Hydro-Man, Molten Man, and Sandman combined, but again what about the fourth? Many are speculating that the fourth is actually Mysterio and he may even be the leader of The Elementals. It would be a good twist for sure, also it would play into the theories that Mysterio is actually the one behind all of this in order to make himself look worthy of being the next Iron Man.

7. Spider-Man’s Not So Secret Identity

Spider-Man: Far From Home Zendaya MJ

As we all know, Peter Parker is the secret identity of Spider-Man. He wears his mask in order to keep his family and friends safe and so that villains won’t be able to go after them. Well in MCU’s Spider-Man, Peter Parker kind of sucks at keeping his secret identity.   The first person to figure Peter Parker out was of course Tony Stark, as we saw in Captain America: Civil War, when Tony recruited Spider-Man to fight for his side. Next in Spider-Man: Homecoming, Ned learned that Peter was Spider-Man thanks to him being in Peter’s room when he came home. Michael Keaton’s Vulture also figured out who Spider-Man was by the end of the movie but chose to keep it secret. Also at the end of Spider-Man: Homecoming we see that Aunt May walks in on Peter changing in his room only for her to freak out saying “What the f..”, only to be cut off by the end of the movie.

Now we are into Spider-Man: Far From Home and we know that anyone who fought along Spider-Man in Avengers: Endgame knows who he is, but not only that Nick Fury and Maria Hill know. Of course this leads to in the trailer, us seeing Nick Fury introduce Peter to Quentin Beck, which may prove dangerous. And finally we see that in the trailer MJ calls out Peter saying that he is Spider-Man and that it is pretty obvious. While funny, she could be kidding but we don’t believe she is. She is pretty smart and her sarcastic whit tends to really just be her speaking the truth. So who knows, by the end of the movie Peter Parker might honestly just reveal his identity like when Tony Stark gave him the opportunity to. We have a feeling he won’t reveal it, but Mysterio knowing as well as the Vulture, could lead into something nasty in the future. Sinister Six anyone?

8. Tony Stark’s Glasses

Spider-Man: Far From Home Tom Holland

One of the most interesting things to come out of the trailer is the shot of Peter taking off what seems to be the glasses that Tony Stark wears in Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame. While we don’t know 100% if those glasses have A.I. technology, it seems like that was the way that Tony was always talking too F.R.I.D.A.Y. whenever he was in battle or other situations. If they are indeed high tech glasses, we don’t know what they could be capable of.

The biggest fans speculation that has a lot of fans freaking out is the thought that maybe at some point, Tony was able to submit his consciousness into the Artificial Intelligence and he would take over as the A.I. for Spider-Man. It would be a CRAZY twist that would have fans so happy to know that Tony still is some how in the MCU, even if his presence isn’t physically. The only question is if that was to happen, would it diminish the sacrifice of Tony Stark in any way? Either way there has to be more then just Peter Parker having Tony Stark’s glasses.

Bonus Rumor

Spider-Man: Far From Home Tom Holland Jake Gyllenhaal Mysteri

There has recently been some speculation around the actor Numan Acar and the role that he has in the movie. According to his casting and IMDB, the role that he has been cast as, is a character called Dmitri. You can see his character in the picture above in the left hand corner. At first many didn’t think anything of it, until you really dive into the rogue gallery of Spider-Man’s villains. There happens to be one character in the Spider-Man comics that has the name Dmitri, that character is none other than Dmitri Anatoly Nikolayevich Smerdyakov aka. The Chameleon.

For those of you unfamiliar with The Chameleon, he is a villain of Spider-Man’s who happens to be a master of disguise. While he doesn’t have transformation abilities like the Skrulls, he creates his disguises typically with makeup and costumes. In other versions he has a belt that is able to help him transform his facial features to that of who he is impersonating. It is interesting that this character would be rumored in a movie that has Mysterio, the master of deception. We could quite possibly be seeing the two working together to trick Spider-Man if in fact Chameleon is in it. It would be a cool twist and who knows, he may be impersonating someone in the trailers!
