Star Wars Celebration was this past weekend and a boy was it a good one. We got trailers, reveals, surprise guests; the list goes on and on! For the majority of us unlucky fans, we weren’t in attendance and didn’t get to experience it live. Most fans were streaming Star Wars Celebration live on Youtube, including us here at Apocaflix! Movies. There was so much going during the five day long convention that we thought it might be a good idea to recap all the exciting news to come out of the convention. So without further ado, here are the biggest news stories to come out of Star Wars Celebration.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker
The biggest news to come out of Star Wars Celebration was obviously any information about Episode IX. During the panel host Stephen Colbert brought out Kathleen Kennedy, Director J.J. Abrahms, as well as a huge portion of the cast. Those on the panel were Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Billy Dee Williams, Kelly Marie Tran, Joonas Suotamo, Naomi Ackie and Anthony Daniels. Also we cannot forget our lovable droid friends R2-D2 and BB-8, with the addition of the newest droid D/O. Noticeably absent from the panel was the movies main villain actor Adam Driver.
The panel didn’t reveal to much but did give us a few pictures of the characters in the movie as well as the reveal of who actress Naomi Ackie is playing. Her name is Jannah and we aren’t quite sure the role she plays in the movie yet. Many thought that she is Lando’s daughter, to which she replied “So, Lando could have children all over the universe. That’s what I’m saying!” The only other thing she said was, “All I can say is the original group are going on this epic adventure,” she teased. “I’m so excited about where Jannah crosses paths with them.”
The most exciting thing to come out of the trailer other than the reveal of the title, is at the very end when we hear the shock of a lifetime; the famous laugh of none other than Emperor Palpatine. While we don’t know 100% what this could means, it does mean that the Emperor will have some sense of presence in the movie. To confirm this, at the end of the trailer when the lights came on, who was standing there but none other than Ian McDiarmid. The crowd went nuts especially after he said in his famous Emperor voice “Roll it again!” The movie is bound to be an epic conclusion to the Skywalker saga and from the looks of it, it is gonna be just that. Check out our break down.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order
EA Games is looking to reestablish themselves as quality Star Wars video game creators after the debacle that the Battlefront games has brought them. It seems now that EA Games is taking a stab at the single player action video game genre and trying to prove that they can still make quality Star Wars games. This time it will be from the game titled Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Before the convention fans were teased with a promo image, but now after having their own full blown panel, we now know a lot more info about the video game. On the panel we saw creators and developers from Respawn Entertainment including Vince Zampella who is the Game Director, who game us information about the game.
The story of the game takes place soon after the events of Order 66 in Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, which saw the fall of the Jedi throughout the galaxy. The game will follow a new character named Cal Kestis, a young padawan that survived Oder 66 and is now living on his own trying to survive on the planet Bacca. Unfortunately for Cal, he is being hunted by an Inquisitor known as the Second Sister. Not much is known about her but is said to be extremely powerful to the point where she can control the flight stick of Cal’s ship remotely. Other characters include a mysterious new “companion” named Cere, who at some point was a Jedi Knight who left the Jedi Order sometime before Order 66.
The character of Cal will be played by Shameless and Gotham star Cameron Monaghan, The character looks extremely similar to Monaghan thanks in large part to the use of motion capture technology. Other things that were noted is that the game is only single player, there is no planed DLC, as well as no microtransactions. The game looks very good and the trailer makes it that much more exciting. The time period of the game is one fans will surely enjoy and look forward to learning more about. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will hit shelves on November 15th, 2019.

The Mandalorian
Towards the end of last year we got the announcement that Star Wars was going to be bringing its first live action TV show that would revolve around a brand new character created by Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni. The show would be called Mandalorian and would revolve around a single Mandalorian character. Pedro Pascal was later cast as that character in the show, as well as Gina Carano, Werner Herzog, Nick Nolte and Carl Weathers. During the panel at Star Wars Celebration Pedro Pascal, Gina Carano, and Carl Weathers came on stage along with Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni and spoke a little bit about what to expect from Mandalorian, while seemingly giving away nothing.
The panel didn’t really give much away, especially for those not in attendance at Star Wars Convention as the live stream feed was turned off for viewers at home when they showed behind the scenes clips from Mandalorian to the panel audience. You can find recorded versions of it online but we here at Apocaflix! Movies have chosen to wait until it officially releases. However we did get images of Pedro Pascal’s Mandalorian character, Gina Carano’s character named Cara Dune, as well as Carl Weathers character Greef Carga. Each of them giving us just the slightest information about their characters.
We learned that the show takes place 5 years after Return of the Jedi and will follow Pedro Pascals character “Mandalorian”. Carl Weathers character Greef Carga is the leader of a bounty hunters guild, who enlists the help of Pascals character to seek a high valued prize for a client. We don’t know if he is a “good” guy or not, or if he is just one of those characters who is just in it for himself. Along the way we will meet Cara Dune played by Carano, who is a former Rebel Shock Trooper who is having a hard time adjusting to life after war. Other than that we didn’t really get any other information, but look we do know it will premiere with Disney+ on November 12th this year!
Star Wars: The Clone Wars
One of the most shocking things we learned last year was that the beloved animated Star Wars The Clone Wars television show would be returning after it seemingly ended sometime ago. Fans were left devastated when it ended, feeling in large part that it was left unfinished. But thanks to years of persistence and Disney, The Clone Wars is making its triumphant return for its 7th season on the Disney+ streaming service. At The Clone Wars panel, which was hosted by Warwick Davis, Dave Filoni, Dee Bradley Baker, Ashley Eckstein, and Sam Witwer. Later on we were joined by some other familiar faces including Matt Lanter, James Arnold Taylor, Tom Kane, Catherine Taber, and Matthew Wood.
Out of all the panels that went on this past weekend, it seemed like we got the most information out of this panel on the projects coming soon. While nothing was spoiled, we did learn a lot about what would be taking place and what we can expect coming to us. We learned that the show is going to be 12 episodes long and will take place where Season 6 left off. Ahsoka left the Jedi Order and now has chosen to go underground into the Coruscant underworld Level 1313. Another story being told is the “Bad Batch” story revolving around a group of “imperfect” clones with unique sets of skills.
One of the most exciting stories that we will finally see come to life is the Siege of Mandalore. This is one of the most famous battles in all of Star Wars but has yet to be put in any form of television or movie. If you are unfamiliar with the story, it is considered one of the final battles of The Clone Wars in which the Republic liberated the planet from Maul. In the newly released trailer we see Maul fighting Ashoka and he is closely resembling his character from Solo: A Star Wars Story to which also Dave Filoni confirmed was on purpose, so we might see a little bit of connection there as well. A date for the release hasn’t been made known but it is expected to be released on Disney+ sometime in 2020.
