New Extended Trailer for ‘Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw’ Is Absolute Mayhem

Universal Pictures has released an action-packed, chaos-filled trailer for the first ever Fast & Furious spinoff, titled Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw. As the title ensues, the movie stars Dwayne Johnsons’ Luke Hobbs and Jason Statham’s Deckard Shaw in an unlikely team-up that has been directed by John Wick, Atomic Blonde and Deadpool 2 director David Leitch. Hobbs and Shaw must put aside their smack-talking rivalry and come together to take down a cyber-genetically enhanced anarchist who just might be badder than themselves.

If you’re a fan of pure adrenalin-filled action movies, this seems to be the perfect movie for you. If they’re willing to show this much action in the trailer, I can’t wait to find out what the movie has in store for us. Trailers usually have that one big moment that it builds towards, but with Hobbs & Shaw, this new trailer is filled to the brim with them. The interesting part about this whole thing is the fact that the franchise has been swept right out of Vin Diesel’s feet. Statham has a bit to do with that, obviously, but The Rock has quietly locked down a franchise that he can make his own and continue to go back to whenever he pleases. Not just because of the potential for multiple stories, but because audiences would much rather see The Rock than Diesel for years to come. Dom Toretto’s time is coming to an end, sadly, but that doesn’t mean the franchise has to stop with him.

It’s not certain the kind of plans they have moving forward, but if this movie makes as much money as we all think it will, we could see these two coming back to these roles for years to come. It also works so much because of David Leitch. We have yet to see the movie, but Leitch is the perfect guy to bring this kind of story to life. While I wasn’t a huge fan of Deadpool 2, have you seen John Wick and Atomic Blonde? If that style of filmmaking is blended into this movie, I’m all in and can’t wait to sit down and just be flat-out entertained by what these guys have put together.

Check out the new trailer below! Also, don’t forget to head down to the comments and leave your thoughts on the craziness that is Hobbs & Shaw. Do you like this spinoff idea? Is this the way of the Fast & Furious future? Also starring Idris Elba, Vanessa Kirby and Eiza González, Leitch’s Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw will hit theaters on August 2nd.
