Every Hero Has a Dark Side in New ‘Dark Phoenix’ TV Spot

20th Century Fox (or is Disney running the YouTube now?) has released a new TV spot for the upcoming finale of the long-running X-Men franchise, simply titled Dark Phoenix. If you’re a comic fan, you’ll understand the title reference, but if not, the film will adapt the hugely popular story arc and follow Jean Grey (Sophie Turner) fighting between the lines of good and evil after being hit with a mysterious cosmic force that has made her infinitely more powerful, but far more unstable. Spiraling out of control and beginning to hurt those around her, the unraveled X-Men must find a way to reunite to not only save the soul of their friend, but save the planet from an alien race who hope to weaponize the Dark Phoenix to rule the galaxy.

While the X-Men franchise is currently the longest running franchise, continuously having movies put out over the last twenty years, Dark Phoenix is the first film in the series that had serious behind-the-scene issues. If you remember, this film was originally suppose to come out last year, then this past February, where it then landed on its final release date of this June. All that in the past now, the movie itself is beginning to look pretty good. Just focusing on the footage, although a story we’ve seen in the series before, it looks pretty good with all things considered.

Although the second trailer did spoil a death of a major character, it seems the hype around the movie is slowly beginning to pick up. It will be interesting to see how the marketing for the movie continues. As I mentioned above, is Disney now in charge of it? If so, will it be kept quiet until after Avengers: Endgame is in theaters? Yes, it’s still two months away, but it is an interesting conversation to have.

Check out the new TV spot for the movie below, and after you do, leave all your questions, comments and concerns in the section below! Did you grow up with these movies? Are you sad to see them go? Does it look good to you? When do you hope to see them join the MCU? Also starring Also starring Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Evan Peters and Jessica Chastain, Simon Kinberg’s Dark Phoenix will be released on June 7th.

In DARK PHOENIX, the X-MEN face their most formidable and powerful foe: one of their own, Jean Grey. During a rescue mission in space, Jean is nearly killed when she is hit by a mysterious cosmic force. Once she returns home, this force not only makes her infinitely more powerful, but far more unstable. Wrestling with this entity inside her, Jean unleashes her powers in ways she can neither comprehend nor contain. With Jean spiraling out of control, and hurting the ones she loves most, she begins to unravel the very fabric that holds the X-Men together. Now, with this family falling apart, they must find a way to unite — not only to save Jean’s soul, but to save our very planet from aliens who wish to weaponize this force and rule the galaxy.
