STX Entertainment has released the first official trailer for their upcoming action comedy My Spy. The movie was directed by Peter Segal and stars Dave Bautista as a recently demoted CIA operative who has been sent to surveil the family of a 9-year old girl named Sophie (Chloe Coleman). But when Sophie discovers hidden cameras inside her apartment, and in exchange for not blowing his cover, she convinces JJ to spend time with her and teach her to be a spy.
While it definitely feels like a movie we’ve seen a time or three before, the most interesting part of this whole thing is Dave Bautista. Bautista is most-known for his role as Drax for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It’s a very action oriented role that calls for some comedy moments, which will no doubt play into this role. Although Drax is a very important character to the MCU, in more ways than one, the role doesn’t exactly call for an incredible way to play him. So, for the first time, My Spy will truly show what kind of chops Bautista has, especially because he isn’t surrounded by other major actors like Chris Pratt or Zoe Saldana.
Check out the first trailer for the movie before, and after doing so, head down to the comments after and leave some thoughts on what you think. Does it look good to you? Do you like Bautista? Also starring Ken Jeong, Segal’s My Spy will be released in theaters later this year.
