Last year John Krasinski shocked the world with his written, directed, and starred in horror thriller A Quiet Place. The plot behind the movie was simple and genius, aliens attack Earth and you can’t make a sound or they will kill you. The movie exploded at the box office bringing in a total of $340 million dollars while it was created on a $21 million dollar budget! The movie was a success story that can be completely credited to John Krasinski and his writing, directing, and acting. He wasn’t alone though, as his real life wife Emily Blunt brought her amazing and untouchable talent to the big screen in the role of Evelyn, the wife of John Krasinski’s character Lee.

The movie was unique and peaked a lot of people’s interest largely due to the fact that a lot of the movie was silent, leaving movie goers holding their breathe waiting for the next startling moment. The main cast revolved around Krasinski and Blunt as parents to three children which quickly turns to two, and the survival of their family. The children were played by Noah Jupe, Cade Woodward, and Millicent Simmonds. Simmonds who is actually deaf in real life, made the character even more unique by playing a character who is hard of hearing in the movie. Other than a quick moment which featured two other people, the whole entire movie only featured those five family members.

So now of course with the massive success of first film, naturally the Paramount Pictures is going to want to release a second film, and they have decided to bring that to life. Details on the project are scarce and what we do know is that the film is scheduled for May 15th, 2020 and Krasinski will return to write and direct. Plot details are next to none, while many think that the logical route would be to play off the lights in the first movie that were connected to other houses and explore different people in the community going through the same thing, eventually maybe uniting all the stories. Emily Blunt summarized it best by saying,

“This isn’t a sequel at all, this is the second book in a series of books. It’s a widening of a world.”

As for the widening of the world, it has been reported that actor Cillian Murphy has been cast in the A Quiet Place sequel, being the first new actor to be named for the sequel. Again there were only a totally of seven actors in the first movie and five of them were part of the Abbott family, so any new characters are a big deal. Murphy is known for his roles in movies like The Dark Knight franchise, Inception, Dunkirk, and most famously for his role as Tommy Shelby in the British TV series Peaky Blinders. He is an amazing actor that deserves a lot more credit than he receives for his acting and he will be a fantastic addition to the Krasinski sequel.
