‘Long Shot’ Red Band Trailer: Seth Rogen & Charlize Theron Star in the Must See Romcom of the Year

Lionsgate Films has released a brand new, red band trailer for their upcoming romantic comedy Long Shot. The film, which was helmed by 50/50 and Warm Bodies director Jonathan Levine, just premiered to stellar reviews at the South by Southwest Festival (SXSW), with just a few of those being displayed throughout the new trailer. The story centers around a man, played by Seth Rogen, who reconnects with his childhood crush after being hired on as part of her team. Only thing is, she’s one of the most influential women in the world and is in the beginning stages of running for President. With a self-deprecating sense of humor, sparks begin to fly as they travel around the world, leading to some very unexpected and dangerous incidents.

As I mentioned, the film debuted to thunderous applause at SXSW last week. Many comments have been made about the movie, but the majority have shined the light on the fact that Rogen and Theron, two very different type of actors, much like their characters, have extremely high chemistry together. It’s also claimed to be insanely charming and romantic, plus very, very funny. It’s no surprise the film is being reviewed that way with Rogen and Theron leading the film, but the key is director Jonathan Levine. That’s his blueprint, with both 50/50 and Warm Bodies both featuring those elements. If Long Shot is anything like those other films, I can’t explain how “in” I am.

As for this new trailer, what can I really say? While the trailer focuses a little bit more on the romantic side of the story, it’s very easy to see why early screenings are getting the response they are. Good romantic comedies are very far and in-between these days, but very rarely do we see a great one. This film has a chance at being great and I can’t wait to check it out. Early May can’t get here soon enough.

Check out the new red band trailer below, and after doing so, head down to the comments and leave all your thoughts. How did you react to the trailer? Do you feel the same as I do? Are Theron and Rogen the perfect odd couple? Also starring Alexander Skarsgard, Bob Odenkirk, Andy Serkis, O’Shea Jackson Jr. and Randall Park, Levine’s Long Shot will arrive in theaters on May 3rd.
