Anya Taylor-Joy to Star in Edgar Wright’s New Horror Film ‘Last Night in Soho’

If you’ve been anxiously waiting to see what new project filmmaker Edgar Wright has been cooking up, you’ve finally got your answer and more! Wright hasn’t debuted a film since his absolutely incredibly fantastic Baby Driver from a few years ago, which he is currently working on a sequel for. While we don’t have any kind of details for his new film, we do have a title in Last Night in Soho and now, thanks to Variety, a big first name added to the cast!

First off, The Witch and Split star Anya Taylor-Joy has officially joined Wright’s new project as “one of the leads,” according to Variety. Many of Wright’s projects typically feature one central character that is surrounded by numerous characters that are perfectly developed. It seems he may be switching things up this time around and wanting an ensemble for the horror film. Outside of that, all we know is that the story will be set in London’s Soho district, which is exactly where it will film this summer.

This is some very exciting news. Most will recognize Wright’s films thanks to the addition of legendary duo Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, but recently, he’s been using younger talents to catapult his stories. Obviously, Baby Driver, which starred Ansel Elgort, was a massive hit that was focused on a young character with young love. That could very well be the case again as he searches for those who will join Taylor-Joy in the film.

As for Taylor-Joy, she’s fantastic in almost every role she’s in. If you haven’t seen it already, she broke onto the scene thanks to her performance in the indie horror film The Witch, which was then followed by her breakout performance in M. Night Shyamalan’s Split. For her age and small resume, she is able to express certain emotions and abilities very strongly into her performances. It’s a no-brainer why Wright would want to work with her next.

What do you think of this news readers? Is Anya Taylor-Joy the perfect fit for an Edgar Wright film? Are you excited to see him do a horror movie? Who else would you like to see cast in the project? Sound off in the comments below and stay tuned for more updates on Last Night in Soho.
