Watch the First Trailer for Netflix’s Assassin Movie ‘Polar’ Starring Mads Mikkelsen

Netflix has released a first trailer for their upcoming assassin-centered movie Polar. Polar is based on the very popular graphic novel by Victor Santos titled “Polar: Came from the Cold” and stars Mads Mikkelsen (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Doctor Strange) as the world’s leading assassin who’s aiming to get out of the game for a quiet ad peaceful life. But as an assassin, that’s never meant to be as his retirement is interrupted by his former employer, who has marked him as liability and sent a handful of young assassins to finish him off and collect the bounty placed on his head. Just as you’d think, it’s not as simple as it seems.

Mikkelsen is easily one of the most underrated actors in the business. One of his best roles is as the villain in Casino Royale, but has easily been as good or better in supporting roles in many other projects over the years. While this definitely isn’t the movie I expected to see him leading, I am glad it’s happening. I’m always down for an assassin movie with some bloody violence in it. And sure, you can compare to many other movies that have come out over recent years, such as John Wick, but is that really enough to have you not watch it? It isn’t for me, especially since it’s a Netflix movie and an adaptation of a graphic novel. I’ll be looking for the pure entertainment factor with this one and hopefully it delivers.

What did you think of the trailer? Will you be giving this project a shot or are you just not interested? Have you read the source material it’s based on? Also starring Vanessa Hudgens, Katheryn Winnick, Matt Lucas, Johnny Knoxville and Richard Dreyfuss, Polar is released on Netflix on January 25th.
