Watch the New Trailer for Netflix’s Sci-Fi Thriller ‘Bird Box’ Starring Sandra Bullock

Netflix has released a new trailer for Bird Box, their upcoming horror sci-fi thriller that stars Sandra Bullock. It’s directed by Susanne Bier and is based on the novel of the same name that is set in a world where a mysterious force has decimated the population with only one true answer so far: if you see it, you take your own life. With absolutely no certainty of what the future holds, Malorie (Bullock) finds happiness in the apocalyptic dystopia the world has now

become only to have it ripped away, where she must now take herself and her two children on an unthinkable journey to survive that must be done blindfolded because of what is waiting for them in the outside world.

I’m absolutely digging everything this movie selling to this point. Through two trailers so far it hasn’t missed a beat for me. The cast is as solid as they come for this time of year, and while Bullock started out as a certain kind of actress, her work in recent years is incredible. She’s easily one of my favorites going right now, as I love to see her push the boundaries of her own abilities. Never did I think I’d see a horror sci-fi thriller starring the leading lady from Miss Congeniality or The Proposal, but I’m captivated by her.

While the director’s last movie that I saw, Serena starring Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence, was a massive disappointment for myself, I’m still very much looking forward to Bird Box. That’s specifically because of the trailers. I hear the comparisons to A Quiet Place from earlier this year, but remember, this is based on an acclaimed novel. Now I haven’t read the book, but from the trailers, I get the vibe that this movie will be much more scarier than John Krasinski’s debut film. So much so that I’ll be searching out for this movie in theaters rather than on Netflix. Now, of course, I’ll watch it on Netflix if I can’t find it in my area, but I would much rather watch this in a theater than on my couch because of how much I’ve liked the trailers so far. Hopefully it lives up to my expectations.

Check out the new trailer below, then make sure you head down to the comments to leave your thoughts! Which trailer do you like better? Are you looking forward to it? How do you feel about Bullocks’s career turn? Also starring Trevante Rhodes, Sarah Paulson, John Malkovich, Jacki Weaver, Rosa Salazar, Danielle Macdonald, Lil Rel Howery, Tom Hollander, Colson Baker and BD Wong, Bier’s Bird Box will have a limited theater and Netflix release on December 21st.
