Warner Bros. has released the first official trailer for the upcoming live-action Pokémon movie POKÉMON Detective Pikachu. The film is directed by Rob Letterman (Goosebumps) and stars the voice of Ryan Reynolds as the fan-favorite Pikachu. This marks the first time ever that there is a live-action Pokémon movie, something that has been begged and pleaded for for years. While Detective Pikachu wasn’t what many had in mind, it seems as if it’s first trailer has seriously won the crowd over.

Well, what a twist of events we have here. I remember so clearly how the world was set on fire the second the words Detective Pikachu were uttered last year. Fans and non-fans alike laughed at the fact that this would be the long-awaited Pokémon movie we’d receive. While it still may not be the movie wanted, its first trailer has sure shut up a lot of its doubters. Letterman was able to capture the perfect amount of family-fun and serious-fun with Goosebumps a few years ago, and going off the vibe of this first trailer, this could very well do the same.

With Ryan Reynolds behind the voice of Pikachu, that alone will bring some very important aspects to the story and film overall. If Letterman is able to make us believe in this world created for this movie, it could end up being a major hit. The jury is still out of the film being that we only have this one trailer to go off of, but I’m confident in saying that many more people are now on board, so much so that I believe this movie has a stellar chance at destroying the box-office with a billion dollar run.
