Warner Bros. has released the first official trailer for their upcoming comedy Isn’t It Romantic. The movie stars Rebel Wilson (Pitch Perfect movies) as a young New York Cit architect who works extremely hard at her job to possibly get lucky enough to be asked for coffee and bagels. To make things worse, she soon encounters a mugger who knocks her unconscious. When she becomes conscious, she soon realizes she’s woken up to her worst nightmare – she’s inside a romantic comedy as the leading lady.
I’ll be quite honest, I haven’t ever really been a fan of Rebel Wilson. She had one shining moment when she first popped up on the scene in Bridesmaids, but the shtick of hers quickly faded as it began to be overused in multiple comedy movies down the line. Now I’m not saying that it’s not possible for her to absolute crush it in a random movie like this one, a la Amy Schumer in Trainwreck, I’m just not expecting it.
The trailer wasn’t terrible, and could easily surprise me because my expectations will be minor going into it, but it just doesn’t seem like something for me. Sadly on my side, I know for a fact it’ll be a date movie due to its Valentine’s Day release. I will say that the most interesting part about this movie is the supporting cast. Adam Devine is the obvious choice, as he and Wilson had such great chemistry in the Pitch Perfect movies. As for Liam Hemsworth and Priyanka Chopra, I’m actually surprised at how much I like those additions. Reasons why? I don’t really know yet.
Check out the first official trailer below and make sure to leave your thoughts in the comments below. Is it a comedy in your liking? How do you like Rebel Wilson as an actress? Will you be dragged to this on Valentine’s Day? Isn’t It Romantic will be released on February 14th, 2019.
New York City architect Natalie works hard to get noticed at her job but is more likely to be asked to deliver coffee and bagels than to design the city’s next skyscraper. And if things weren’t bad enough, Natalie, a lifelong cynic when it comes to love, has an encounter with a mugger that renders her unconscious, waking to discover that her life has suddenly become her worst nightmare—a romantic comedy—and she is the leading lady.
