New York Comic Con is going strong this weekend, and Universal Pictures has brought a new trailer to the stage for two reasons, to continue the excitement for those looking forward to it or get those who aren’t excited for it on board. Does it happen? You’ll have to watch this brand new footage to find out.
The film is set hundreds of years after a cataclysmic event destroyed most of civilization. From the ashes of the world, a young woman emerges as the only one who can stop London from devouring everything its path. Why devouring? In this future apocalypse, major cities have become gigantic predator cities on wheels and the only hope for the world to live on is the mysterious Hester, who is fiercely driven by the memory of her mother to do good for the world.
I’ll be honest, I haven’t been all that interested in this project from the beginning. I’m willing to give anything a shot, but I just haven’t liked the trailers for it. I don’t really know what it is about, but it just doesn’t seem like a movie for me personally. I will say that with this new trailer, it is the best thing the film has released thus far. It’s definitely better than the first in my opinion, better enough to get me into to the theater to watch it rather than on VOD or any other platform after its theatrical release. And hopefully, just hopefully, the ticket price is worth the experience.
check out the new trailer below and make sure to leave your thoughts in the comments as well. Are you a fan of the material? How have you liked the trailers? What am I missing about it? Starring Hera Hillmar, Robert Sheehan, Colin Salmon, Caren Pistorius, Stephen Lang and Hugo Weaving, Rivers’ Mortal Engines rides into theaters on December 14th.
Hundreds of years after civilization was destroyed by a cataclysmic event, a mysterious young woman, Hester Shaw (Hera Hilmar), emerges as the only one who can stop London — now a giant, predator city on wheels — from devouring everything in its path. Feral, and fiercely driven by the memory of her mother, Hester joins forces with Tom Natsworthy (Robert Sheehan), an outcast from London, along with Anna Fang (Jihae), a dangerous outlaw with a bounty on her head.
