‘Star Wars’ Live-Action Series Title & Synopsis Revealed by Jon Favreau!

It’s been known for some time that outside of The Lion King, Jon Favreau’s next big thing is the first ever Star Wars live-action television series. The Series, which has now finally been given a name and synopsis, is expected to debut on Disney’s brand new streaming service next year. Since the announcement of the series earlier this year, fans have gone crazy with debating what the series could possibly be. With Favreau being a huge Star Wars fan and being rumored for the galaxy far, far away for quite a while, ideas and guesses were up and down the entire board, but thanks to an official post from Favreau himself, we finally have our answer!

Favreau took to his official Instagram yesterday evening and revealed that his upcoming series would be titled The Mandalorian, which is perfectly lined up with what many of the rumors floating around lately. The Mandalorian will follow a “lone gunfighter in the outer reaches” of space and is set in-between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens. There’s a 30 year gap in-between those two films, and with the New Republic essentially forming directly after the Battle of Endor, Favreau’s name drop of that doesn’t clear up the time slot just yet.

This. Is. Awesome. Everyone knows, I’m a huge Star Wars guy. It’s the reason I’m into movies as much as I am. Not only am I a huge fan, but Boba Fett is easily one of my all-time favorite characters. His Mandalorian heritage has always intrigued me and whenever it was touched on in both The Clone Wars and Rebels, I always become much more interested because of how little that people have been used thus far in the galaxy of Star Wars. Just from Jango and Boba alone, we know how powerful this group of people can be, so where have they been? What have they been up to during the fall of the Empire?

From the synopsis released by Favreau, there are many hints and teases that will be dissected over the next few weeks until official answered are revealed. For starts, it states “another warrior emerges.” Now that can simply mean that another character will emerge as an important piece to the story, being shot into a larger world, or even possibly raised into it. But as the synopsis was released and fans mind went crazy, rumors have already been subjected to believing that this “warrior” is some kind of relative to Jango and Boba Fett. Not necessarily a son or brother, but a descent of their family line. Remember, we know close to nothing about the Fett’s and their presence on Mandalore. How important of a family were they? Were they even recognized? It could go either way, but it is just one of many possibilities.

for myself, I’ve been locked in on this idea for quite some time. This story and time era just made the most sense to me. For Favreau, and Dave Filoni who will more than likely get his first crack at live-action directing, it just seems too perfect. This story also goes along with the latest casting rumors involving Pedro Pascal. Nothing has been confirmed, but Pascal, who is known for his work on Game of Thrones and Netflix’s Narcos, fits the build of a Mandalorian. Almost perfectly I might add. Would I like to see a little bit of a younger actor to see an evolution through the series? Definitely. But I will not argue with the casting if it does in fact happen.

Whatever map happen going forward, we know this, The Mandalorian promises new things in the galaxy far, far away. We’ve been asking, basically begging Lucasfilm to allow us to see more of a focus on Mandalore and its people. They listened. They’ve been listening. With all the chaotic fanboy issues Star Wars has been having over the last few months, the air is clearing and we are now venturing into a time where Star Wars is fun and interesting again (even though it never left for me). This series is off to a hot start, and it will only get hotter. With a speculated budget that would top Game of Thrones‘ production, expect to possibly see some big names and characters involved in this series.

What do you think of this news? Is this exactly what you were hoping to see? What idea did you have for the series? Do you like the synopsis or is it still too early to tell? Head down to the comments and leave your thoughts, as well as your fan casting for the main character! No official date has been slotted for the show yet, but make sure you keep an eye out here on Apocaflix! Movies for any new updates on the series. May the force be with you.
