‘Murder on the Orient Express’ Follow Up ‘Death on the Nile’ Begins Building Cast

Last year we got the highly anticipate Agatha Christie novel turned all star cast movie Death on the NileMurder on the Orient Express. While the movie received mixed reviews, the movie made a nice $351 million dollars at the box office and its cast of actors was enough to fill the seats alone. Many enjoyed seeing the cast, which worked very well with each other,
try and get their way out of the murder mystery. At the end of the movie, our mustached crime fighting detective Hercule Poirot was asked to investigate a “Death on the Nile”. Hence where the title of the sequel comes from.

Agatha Christie’s novels are still popular to this day, so it only seems obvious that they would have a follow up sequel to Murder on the Orient Express. Until recently we didn’t know much about Death on the Nile yet, we do know that Kenneth Branagh will reprise his role as Detective Hercule Poirot as well as direct. The story will revolve around Hercule Poirot who is sent to Egypt to find out who murdered a wealthy heiress while she was on vacation, cruising the Nile River. The studio has now begun casting for roles and we are starting to see who those actors are going to be.

The first actor to sign on for the movie was none other than Wonder Woman herself, Gal Gadot. Gadot was the first actor, other than Kenneth Branagh, to sign on for the sequel. The role that Gadot will be playing is Linnet Ridgeway Doyle, the rich heiress that has recently married her friend’s fiancé, Simon Doyle, which has made her bitterly resentful towards Linnet.

The second person to be cast is Armie Hammer. Hammer is known for his roles in The Man From U.N.C.L.E. and Call Me By Your Name. His next movie, On the Basis of Sex, which follows the life of Supreme Court Judge Ruth Bader Ginsburg, is set to be released Christmas this year. Hammer is a name a lot of fans will enjoy seeing on the cast but unfortunately his character has yet to be revealed. Speculation is that he will be playing the role of Simon Doyle, the recently married partner of Gal Gadot.

The movie is set to start filming in the middle of next year, with a December 20th release date going up against Star Wars: Episode IX. So what do you think? Do you like the casting so far of Armie Hammer and Gal Gadot? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
