Along with a brand new and final trailer for David Yates’ upcoming sequel Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, a batch of new character posters have been released for the film. Featuring every major character we’ll see in the highly-anticipated sequel, these aren’t your typical character posters. Each are personalized, teasing us fans with the whereabouts of these characters when the story begins in just over a month, on top of being some pretty damn well-crafted one-sheets.
If you remember the end of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, you know that each character kind of went off on their own. No two characters were together by the end of the story, for certain reasons. We know what The Crimes of Grindelwald is mainly going to be about, but it won’t be the only story to tell. This magical world created by J.K. Rowling, who is responsible for the script, always involves a number of eclectic characters that we come to care about. So where are they when this new adventure begins? By an intelligent move from WB, each poster includes a small sentence that gives us just a hint as to where they are. While it is interesting, the more interesting aspect of this is how they are all brought back together. Trailers have hinted at it, but what exactly happens and how does it happen to bring them all back together after the ending of the first? I’m very interested in finding it.
On top of those small details, this new batch of posters give us some great looks at the newcomers of the universe, which of course include Jude Law’s Dumbledore, as well as Callum Turner’s Theseus Scamander (Newt’s brother) and Zoe Kravitz’s Leta Lestrange, who was originally teased in the first movie. From footage thus far, each character seems to have a good size role. And with knowing that Newt is in love with Leta, but her being with his brother, it’ll no doubt add some very interesting dynamics to the film.
The posters also dropped a bomb that Claudia Kim with be portraying Nagini, Voldermort’s slithering counterpart from the Harry Potter films. There’s a long mythology with the type of magic Nagini has, but in simple terms, this is her true form before she became the deadly Horcrux that was always by the Dark Lord’s side. We’ll have more on this story in detail in an upcoming article.
Check out the big set of posters below, and make sure to leave all your thoughts in the comments below! Are you looking forward to the sequel? Is it Newt you’re excited for or the eventual Dumbledore / Grindelwald showdown? Also starting Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Claudia Kim and Johnny Depp, Yates’ Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald will open in theaters on November 16.
