Did anyone else not see this coming? Henry Cavill has been gracing our screens more and more lately and really is starting to become quite the popular actor. His most recent role came in Mission Impossible: Fallout but is obviously known for his role in the newly named “Worlds of DC” Universe as Clark Kent aka Superman. While Man of Steel wasn’t ground breaking, it is still one of the more popular and beloved of the DC movies that has been recently put out and really began to give Henry Cavill that recognition. Leaving many to wonder, why hasn’t there been a sequel?
With the World of DC slowly trying to steer their movies onto the right track, we have all been anticipating some news that Man of Steel 2 to get the green light from DC, but yet we still have nothing. It has been rumored that there is a hold out between Cavill’s agent and DC on how he should be payed, one side believing he should be being paid as an A-list actor, the other disagreeing. This leading Cavill to other projects, most recently Netflix’s highly anticipated Witcher series.
For those of you unfamiliar with The Witcher and its origins, The Witcher originally started out as a popular Polish novel and short story series by author Andrzej Sapkowski. With the popularity of the series it grew from there spawning television series, movies, and video games. Most recently its popularity has come from the video game series which began in 2007 and only grown more in popularity. The series revolves around the central character Geralt of Rivia, a monster hunter, he finds himself more as a solitary man struggling to find his own place in the world where people often prove more wicked than beasts.
Geralt of Rivia will be played by Cavill shocking many and leaving fans on opposite sides, some excited about the actor taking on the character and others displeased. It definitely wasn’t expected and left many surprised that Cavill would go from movies to a Netflix series. But with the growing popularity of streaming services and Netflix’s huge budget, its no surprise that actors are staring to make the move to roles on streaming services.
