‘The Predator’ Featurette: Director Shane Black Talks About Resurrecting the Classic Monster

The Predator franchise is a classic. Like every franchise, it’s had its ups and downs, but at the end of the day, it’s the damn Predator. Now before Shane Black became director Shane Black, he was featured in the original movie that starred Arnold Schwarzenegger. Decades later, he’s returning to the franchise as a director, a director who is looking to resurrect the legendary monster from the dead.

I’ve loved everything I’ve seen from The Predator. The look, the feel; Black is completely reinventing the franchise with a new story and take on the mythology, something that has been needed to be done for years now. I understand that some may not be attracted to a Black film like other filmmakers, but man do I love me a Shane Black film. The Nice Guys is one of my favorite films of the last few years, and I can’t wait to see what he’s able to bring back to this franchise after quite a long absence.

On top of the brand few featurette that has been released, which shows Black talking about brining this classic monster back to top form, I’ve also attached a few of the most recent TV spots for the movie, which show more and more new footage. If you weren’t already on board with this movie, all this new footage should no doubt, at the minimum, peak your interest.

Check out the new videos below, and after doing so, let me know your thoughts in the comments! How do you think the resurrection looks? Is Black the perfect man for the job? Starring Starring Boyd Holbrook, Trevante Rhodes, Jacob Tremblay, Keegan-Michael Key, Olivia Munn, Sterling K. Brown, Alfie Allen, Thomas Jane, Augusto Aguilera, Jake Busey and Yvonne Strahovski, The Predator arrives on Earth on September 14th.

From the outer reaches of space to the backwoods of southern Georgia, the hunt comes home in Shane Black’s explosive reinvention of the Predator series. Now, the universe’s most lethal hunters are stronger, smarter and deadlier than ever before. And only a ragtag crew of ex-soldiers and an evolutionary biology professor can prevent the end of the human race.
