Lionsgate Films has released a handful of TV spots for the new Anna Kendrick, Blake Lively suspense thriller A Simple Favor. Directed by comedy filmmaker Paul Feig, the story follows a mommy vlogger (Kendrick) who is on the search to uncover the mystery behind her best friend’s (Lively) sudden disappearance from the small town they reside in.
While we have yet to post anything on this film yet (just a matter of missing it), don’t think we’re not looking forward to it. I myself am very interested in this project for two main reasons, the chemistry potential between Kendrick and Lively, but most of all, seeing Paul Feig, who is known for his outrageous funny movies, tackle a completely different genre in the suspense thriller. It’s always interesting to see directors switch it up time to time, but it’s a whole new ball game when a comedy director like Feig sets his sights on a suspense thriller story.
Whether or not Feig is able to director a project like this remains to be seen, but having two strong performers like Kendrick and Lively co-leading is a big deal. They are both big ticket grabbers and together, they could end up bringing something unique to their roles and even possibly carry the project from something bland into the very interesting category.
Check out the new looks below and after doing so, leave your thoughts on the movie in the comments! How have you liked the trailer so far? What do you think of the Kendrick, Lively pairing? What about Feig directing a non-comedy? Also starring Henry Golding, Andrew Rannells, Linda Cardellini, Jean Smart, and Rupert Friend, Feig’s A Simple Favor will be released on September 14th.
Centers around Stephanie (Anna Kendrick), a mommy vlogger who seeks to uncover the truth behind her best friend Emily’s (Blake Lively) sudden disappearance from their small town. Stephanie is joined by Emily’s husband Sean (Henry Golding) in this thriller filled with twists and betrayals, secrets and revelations, love and loyalty, murder and revenge.
