Lionsgate Films and Summit Entertainment have released the first official trailer at Hunter Killer. Based on the book by George Wallace and Don Keith titled Firing Point, Hunter Killer follows Gerard Butler as submarine Captain Joe Glass, who is on a special mission when he and his crew come across a Russian coup that threatens the world as we know it. With the future on the line, Captain Glass and his crew team up with an elite group of NAVY Seals to rescue the kidnapped Russian President and try to stop World War III.
I’m in, sold. I don’t care how cheesy or ridiculous it looks, I’m all about the action in this one. Gerard Butler is the most underrated action star on the planet, and while he is rarely in a good action movie (I have no idea why), anything he’s in I’m into to. Remember how legit Olympus Has Fallen? That is straight action, and this trailer has vibes of that movie, just under water. Like I said, it looks quite silly at times, but these movies are made for pure entertainment, and the trailer gives off the vibe that it very much will entertain the s**t out of you.
Check out the trailer below and after doing so, leave your thoughts in the comments! What do you think of the trailer? Is it too ridiculous for you or just enough? Am I right on Gerard Butler? Also starring Gary Oldman, Common, Linda Cardellini and Toby Stephens, Donovan Marsh’s Hunter Killer will be released in theaters on October 26th.
“Deep under the Arctic Ocean, American submarine Captain Joe Glass (Gerard Butler, Olympus Has Fallen, 300) is on the hunt for a U.S. sub in distress when he discovers a secret Russian coup is in the offing, threatening to dismantle the world order. With crew and country on the line, Captain Glass must now assemble an elite group of Navy SEALs to rescue the kidnapped Russian president and sneak through enemy waters to stop WWIII.”
