‘Shazam!’ Trailer Brings a Lighter Tone to the DCEU

Well this seems to be a change of pace for the DCEU! As we know the DCEU films are
known for their darker tone and direction in their movies. Well it looks like there is
about to be a bright spot in the that line up as Warner Bros. and DC Comics are bringing Zachary Levi as Shazam!more of a lighter tone to the DCEU with the Shazam! movie. We have been getting teased with photos from the movie over the last week or so leading up to Comic Con where the trailer made it’s debut.

For those of you unfamiliar with Shazam!, the movie will tell the story of Billy Batson, a 14 year old boy who gains powers from The Wizard and whenever he shouts the word Shazam!. This turns him into adult with super powers. While at one point Dwayne Johnson was rumored to be making a appearance in the movie as Shazam’s arch rival Black Adam, it doesn’t seem likely to happen in this movie. Instead we will be seeing Shazam! trying to stop the evil Dr. Sivana.

The cast consists of Asher Angel who plays Billy Batson, Zachary Levi will play Shazam, Mark Strong will play the villain Dr.Thaddeus Sivana, Jack Dylan Grazer plays Freddy Freeman who is Billy Batson’s best friend, and Djimon Hounsou will play The Wizard who gives Billy Batson his powers.

The movie is about a year away so not to much is known, but it is still awesome to be able to have something to look forward too next year! Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think! Shazam! hits theaters April 5, 2019.

“Billy Batson, a youth who works as a radio news reporter is chosen to be a champion of good by The Wizard. Whenever Billy speaks the wizard’s name, he is instantly struck by a magic lightning bolt that transforms him into an adult superhero named Shazam! who is empowered with the abilities of six mythical figures.”
