About a week ago we told you that Marvel and Disney were actively looking for the director of their upcoming Black Widow movie and had talked to over 65 directors to helm the film. At the time it was narrowed down to four directors. The list was Cate
Shortland, Amma Asante, Maggie Betts, and Kimberly Peirce. Well its seems after an exhaustive search, Marvel and Disney have finally settled on a director. That director is Cate Shortland!
Cate Shortland has pretty much been the director that insiders have claimed had the best chances to land the Marvel movie and it seems like they were right. Shortland is best known for her critically acclaimed 2012 drama Lore and most recently helmed the Teresa Palmer-led thriller Berlin Syndrome, which is described as a psychological horror thriller. While the script written by Jac Shaeffer has been completed, the plot of the movie is still unknown. Many believe it will be a prequel set before The Avengers, and will show how she begun working for Nick Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D.
I personally am excited for this movie and believe a Scarlett Johansson led Black Widow movie is long overdue. I don’t know anything about this director, but if Marvel/Disney has gone through over 65 directors, she must really stand out and be something special. So what do you think? Are you excited for the Black Widow movie? Let us know in the comments below!
