‘Spawn’ Reboot Confirms New Cast Member

Last week The Hashtag Show reported a rumor going around that Jeremy Renner was being eyed to play a very large role in the Spawn reboot starring Jamie Foxx as the lead character of Spawn. It has now been confirmed that Renner has been cast as Twitch Williams, an soft spoken private investigator who used to be a Detective for the New York City Police Department.

Spawn creator and director of the reboot Todd McFarlane spoke about Renner joining the cast saying:

“As a first time director, I wanted to surround myself with the most talent and the most skilled people I can on all fronts. I was lucky enough to land Jason Blum and then Jamie Foxx, and I knew the person on screen the most is this police officer, Twitch Williams. We needed as strong a person as possible because he will be the face of the film.

I took my naïve Hollywood approach again, and said let’s start at the top and work down. Jeremy was at the top. I’m a huge fan of his. The character doesn’t need to be a bodybuilder or GQ handsome. I was looking for somebody who’s a person you’ve met before; I needed someone who can pull off the grief of an average human being. I’ve seen Jeremy do that in more than a few of his movies. He was at the top of my list, just like Jamie.”

Personally I have never been a fan of the Spawn franchise. I never watched the original movie and never have had the desire either. I also am not a big fan of Jamie Foxx especially since he ruined my favorite Spider-Man villain Electro in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Jeremy Renner is a plus but maybe with a trailer it can entice my interest but until then I’m skeptical.

So what do you think? Are you excited about Jeremy Renner joining the cast of the Spawn reboot? Let us know in the comments below!
