After the closing minutes of John Wick: Chapter 2, it’s very clear that Keanu Reeves’ Boogeyman is going to war. But just in case you didn’t see the movie or don’t remember, the new title for the third chapter is here to remind you.
Reeves recently sat down with ComingSoon.net, and in the conversation, he casually dropped the official title for the final entry into the action-packed franchise. John Wick 3: Parabellum is the official title, which in translation means “prepare for war.” In the interview, Reeves said the following: “It’s part of that famous sentence, ‘Si vis pacem, para vellum,’ which translates as, ‘If you want peace, prepare for war.'” And for a man who was once known as the Baba Yaga and wanted nothing but the quiet life but was abruptly brought back into the dark, criminal underworld, it sounds about right for what promises to be one epic final chapter.
But while the ending of Chapter 2 had us believing that Wick would have to be a one-man wrecking crew to stay alive, he’ll actually have a little bit of help this time around as he’ll be teaming up with a mysterious new character named Sofia, played by the always great Halle Berry. Reeves also had this to say about his and Berry’s reasoning for once again coming together:
“John Wick is fighting for his life and thinks that Halle Berry’s character has some information for him,” Reeves said. “They have a past, and they get involved with The High Table, this kind of overlording entity.”
I can’t freaking wait for this one. This franchise has easily become one of my favorites currently running, and with both director Chad Stahelski and Reeves once again returning, it shall no doubt be an insane ending for everyone who comes into content with the Boogeyman. Also starring Angelica Huston, Jason Mantzoukas, Asia Kate Dillon, Common, Ruby Rose, Lance Roddick, Laurence Fishburne and Ian McShane,John Wick 3: Parabellum hits theaters on May 17th, 2019.
“John should have already been executed, except the Continental’s manager, Winston, has given him a one-hour grace period before he’s “Excommunicado” – membership revoked, banned from all services and cut off from other members. John uses the service industry to stay alive as he fights and kills his way out of New York City.”
