Academy Award nominated Director Greta Gerwig has settled on her next film and it isn’t a small project. Gerwig has decided that she will be taking on the American classic novel Little Woman. This will be Gerwig’s first directorial film since her smash hit Lady Bird which saw her nominated for Best Director and Best Original Screen play at the Academy Awards. Little Woman has been remade countless times whether for TV or film, but the most popular version was in 1994 which starred Winona Ryder, Christian Bale, Kirsten Dunst, Claire Danes, Trini Alvarado, Samantha Mathis and Susan Sarandon.
The 1994 version had a fantastic cast and Gerwig’s version looks to do the same as she looks to bring some high powered names as well as a few familiar ones. It is reported that Gerwig plans to cast Lady Bird actors Saoirse Ronan and Timothee Chalamet in her adaptation of the film and continuing her high powered cast she is also looking to cast Meryl Streep as well as Emma Stone and Florence Pugh. While there have been many remakes of this movie, the A-list cast that is attached is sure to draw a crowd and with Greta Gerwig at the helm, you can expect something fantastic to be done with the movie. There is no current release date set.
