STX Entertainment has unveiled a new restricted trailer for Peter Berg’s upcoming film Mile 22. This is the fourth time Berg and star Mark Wahlberg have teamed up for a film, and because the first three each had incredible buzz around them, that makes their latest collaboration one of the most anticipated movies for the rest of the summer. In the film, Wahlberg stars as one of the CIA’s most prized operatives, and along with secret-tactical command team, he must transport a high priority asset along a lethal stretch of 22 enemy filled miles.
I am completely on board for this movie. Not only am I pretty obsessed with the work Berg and Wahlberg churn out together, but a real world CIA thriller is a total hook for me. But then, on top of it starring Wahlberg, who kicks ass in these roles by the way, it co-stars The Walking Dead‘s Lauren Cohan (finally on the big screen) and martial artist expert Iko Uwais, who stomped onto the American scene thanks to The Raid remakes. Keeping those names in mind and the kind of story that’s been created, the film promises nothing but high intense action, and that’s exactly what this new trailer showcases.
I obviously don’t want to see anything more for this movie after this trailer, but the footage on display is awesome. Nothing ever stays too long on one scene, which lets us know as viewers that there’s much more in store for us. Of course, I’m excited to see Wahlberg, Cohan and Rhonda Rousey get down and dirty with gun fights, knives and the whole arsenal, but the obvious seller is Uwais. What he can bring to the table with hand-to-hand combat is unlike any right now. Having him on board tells me that this film will bring some of the best action of the year, and I can’t wait.
Check out the new trailer below and head down to the comments after to let me know your thoughts! Which trailer have you liked more? Does having Iko Uwais on board get you that much more excited? What do you think of the Berg/Wahlberg movies? Also starring John Malkovich, Berg’s Mile 22 hits the pavement in theaters on August 17th.
n a visceral modern thriller from the director of Lone Survivor, Mark Wahlberg stars as James Silva, an operative of the CIA’s most highly-prized and least-understood unit. Aided by a top-secret tactical command team, Silva must retrieve and transport an asset who holds life-threatening information to Mile 22 for extraction before the enemy closes in.
