The Hunt Has Evolved in the New R-Rated Trailer for ‘The Predator’

20th Century Fox has released an action-packed R-rated trailer for The Predator. Written and directed by Shane Black, who starred in the original movie back in 1987, The Predator follows a ragtag group of ex-soldiers, a science teacher and a young boy as they try to prevent human extinction from the ultimates predators, an alien species who have genetically upgraded themselves from other species, making them even stronger, smarter and deadlier than ever before.

While the original movie is held as one of the greatest action movies to ever be made, the series has in modern time has failed to come anywhere near it. Predators was a good movie, but it didn’t stick. Since Black starred in the original and is coming back as both writer and director, I have no doubt that he not only feels the pressure, but will bring the franchise back full circle and give us a movie that looks and feels like it stars a 1987 Arnold Schwarzenegger. And if we’re to go by this trailer, it’ll be exactly that.

One of the best things about Black’s filmmaking is that most of the things he does, they’re R-rated. He enjoys breaking boundaries and giving audiences exactly what the project is, exactly what he envisions the project as. With that at his fingertips, he’s looks to have given us a bloody and completely violent take on this series, which is exactly what it should be. The action looks mind-blowing, the characters look like a lot of fun, and the twist that he’s put on the Predators themselves is exactly what the franchise needs. Now all we can hope for is that the finished product is as good as this trailer.

Check out the brand new trailer below and make sure to leave your thoughts in the comments section! What do you think of the trailer? Are you obsessed with the action and violence as much as I am? How about the twist of the character? Starring Boyd Holbrook, Trevante Rhodes, Jacob Tremblay, Keegan-Michael Key, Olivia Munn, Sterling K. Brown, Alfie Allen, Thomas Jane, Augusto Aguilera, Jake Busey and Yvonne Strahovski, The Predator lands in theaters on September 14th.

From the outer reaches of space to the small-town streets of suburbia, the hunt comes home in Shane Black’s explosive reinvention of the Predator series. Now, the universe’s most lethal hunters are stronger, smarter and deadlier than ever before, having genetically upgraded themselves with DNA from other species. When a young boy accidentally triggers their return to Earth, only a ragtag crew of ex-soldiers and a disgruntled science teacher can prevent the end of the human race.
