Dreamwork’s Animation and Universal Pictures have released the first official trailer for How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World, the trilogy finale. Once again directed by Dean DeBlois, the third and final movie in the franchise finds Hiccup (Jay Baruchel) jumping into the role of village Chief of Burk, while his one-of-a-kind dragon Toothless becomes the leader of his own kind. However, their adventure and relationship is put to the test when the biggest threat they’ve faced arrives, as well as a female Night Fury.
I love this trailer. I’ve really come to love what this franchise has to offer, and that’s probably because it’s based on a book series that is extremely popular. While this is not a teaser trailer and does feature quite a bit, it’s a really good trailer and shows exactly what we need to get excited. With how the second film ended, this is brand new territory for our characters and us, as Hiccup has more responsibility than ever as a village lies on his shoulders and his favorite creature running the dragon world.
With it being the third film, I expect the biggest possibilities yet, especially since Deblois always set out to make this a three part story. The chance of a fourth movie or spinoffs happening is high, but that will be without DeBlois directing, which means he will be doing his best to conclude the story in the biggest, or should I say epic, fashion possible.
Watch the new trailer below and make sure to let me know your thoughts in the comments! Have you enjoyed this franchise? What did you think of the trailer? Do you enjoy these movies as much as I do? Featuring the voices of America Ferrera, Cate Blanchett, Kit Harington, Craig Ferguson and F. Murray Abraham, How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World is released on March 1st, 2019.
What began as an unlikely friendship between an adolescent Viking and a fearsome Night Fury dragon has become an epic trilogy spanning their lives. In this next chapter, Hiccup and Toothless will finally discover their true destinies: the village chief as ruler of Berk alongside Astrid, and the dragon as leader of his own kind. As both ascend, the darkest threat they’ve yet faced—as well as the appearance of a female Night Fury—will test the bonds of their relationship like never before.
