‘The LEGO Movie’ Sequel Gets a Fitting Official Title

While no one saw it coming, Warner Bros. has made an empire with their LEGO universe. They’ve made three movies in the universe so far and each of them have been a success in one way or another. While both The LEGO Batman Movie and The LEGO Ninjago Movie were good, everyone has been waiting for the follow-up to the original movie that started it all. Don’t worry, it’s coming next year, and thanks to a new announcement, we know what it’ll be called.

Story and character details for the sequel are still very protected, with no synopsis or cast even announced yet. With it holding an early February release, just as the first did, it wouldn’t be surprising if WB held everything under wraps until San Diego Comic-Con this summer, where they can provide fans with all the answers they seek on the biggest stage. For now, we’ll just have to dissect in every way possible the official title for the movie, which was officially revealed thanks to the official twitter page of LEGO:

I was just kidding about that whole dissecting thing because in all honestly, how can we really disassemble a title? A title is a title and there’s nothing we can do about it, no matter how happy or upset we are about it. While this title would in no way fit other franchises, it does for this one, and that’s all that really needs to be said.

While almost everyone adored the first movie, I thought it was just good. I didn’t come out of it raving or wanting to see it again. I was glad I saw it, but wasn’t anything more than that. That doesn’t necessarily mean I’m not looking forward to the sequel. It’s a fun and wacky enough franchise that is on the complete opposite end of the spectrum when it comes to animated movies. Why wouldn’t I at least be interested in it? That’s what makes this title reveal so much of a bummer. I love that we have a title, but you couldn’t give us anything else? February 2019 feels forever away and we only have a title to go off of? Smh WB, smh.

Anyway, look out this summer at SDCC for some major LEGO revelations, but for now, head down to the comments and let me know your thoughts in the title. Is it fitting or too much? The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part will hit theaters on February 8th, 2019.
