Solo: A Star Wars Story is now just a matter of weeks away and with a few full-length trailer out of the way, the marketing team behind the latest Star Wars spinoff has set their sites on releasing official clips.
To this point, I think the team behind the promo strategy has done a pretty good job of keeping as much as possible behind lock and key. As I’ve watched the trailers and maybe a TV spot or two, I’ve yet to get the feeling that I’ve seen to much. But as with every film, when official clips of the film star getting released, that’s when I start to step away. It’s one thing to see mere seconds of dozens of scenes in a 2-minute trailer and then a full scene play out in 30 seconds or even sometime a minute and a half.
Now I’m not saying these clips will spoil anything or even hold scenes that have a big impact on the overall plot, but no matter what kind of scene it is, I know for a fact that it’s something I’d much rather see for the first time when I’m sitting down watching the film for the first time.
I didn’t think I’d be saying this a few months ago, but my excitement for this movie has become very, very high. Every time I see that second trailer, I start to like what I see more and more, and it’s not even new footage! The only thing that makes me nervous is that I hope my expectations haven’t reached a level where I leave the theater disappointed. We’ll find out in just a few weeks. Directed by Ron Howard and starring Alden Ehrenreich, Donald Glover, Emilia Clarke, Woody Harrelson, Paul Bettany, Thandie Newton and Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Solo: A Star Wars Story hits a theater near you on May 25th.
