As promised last week, Universal Pictures unveiled the new and final trailer for this summer’s massive sequel Jurassic World: Kingdom. The story this time around follows Owen (Chris Pratt) and Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) as they are returning to Isla Nublar to not start a theme park, but rather evacuate all the remaining dinosaurs due to the islands volcano roaring to life. But you didn’t think that was it, right? As the new trailer reveals, director J.A. Bayona has crafted much more than just a rescue mission for Fallen Kingdom.
While it felt as if the first trailer for Fallen Kingdom showed way too much footage, it was later revealed that that footage was only from the first act of the movie. Fans everywhere had a huge sigh of relief, but that won’t be the case with this final trailer. I’ll say this now, I don’t agree with those claiming the trailer shows way too much, I’m actually the complete opposite. I didn’t feel as if the trailer really showed a lot, as it almost felt like we were seeing chunks of maybe like 4 or 5 scenes. I could definitely be wrong, but I didn’t walk away from this trailer annoyed at how much it showed. Rather, I walked away super excited.
I love the first Jurassic World for what it is. I had such an amazing time with it and was just flat-out entertained. But I know that one of it’s bigger flaws is it’s story. Again, I could end up being wrong, but I’m really digging the story direction they’re taking here. It’s not just a rescue op or about running away from dinosaurs, it’s much more than that. It’s about saving them and stopping those who don’t want to just control them, but create an entire new line of them for their own personal gain. Don’t get me wrong, I totally know what I’m getting into with this movie, pure summer entertainment. But damn am I having fun with. A buddy-buddy human-dino movie with Chris Pratt and his best dino friend Blue? Come on now!
Check out the final trailer below, and make sure to leave your thoughts of the new trailer in the comments! Do you feel the same as I do? What did you like or not like as much? Also starring James Cromwell, Ted Levine, Justice Smith, Geraldine Chaplin, Daniella Pineda, Toby Jones, Rafe Spall and Isabella Sermon, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom stomps into theaters on June 22nd.
It’s been four years since theme park and luxury resort Jurassic World was destroyed by dinosaurs out of containment. Isla Nublar now sits abandoned by humans while the surviving dinosaurs fend for themselves in the jungles.
When the island’s dormant volcano begins roaring to life, Owen (Chris Pratt) and Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) mount a campaign to rescue the remaining dinosaurs from this extinction-level event. Owen is driven to find Blue, his lead raptor who’s still missing in the wild, and Claire has grown a respect for these creatures she now makes her mission. Arriving on the unstable island as lava begins raining down, their expedition uncovers a conspiracy that could return our entire planet to a perilous order not seen since prehistoric times.
