Avengers: Infinity War is now a month away, which means it’s time to put up the blockers! With the film just a handful of weeks away, that means that Disney and Marvel’s marketing has been shifted into high gear leading into quite possibly the biggest blockbuster release of all-time. Following an initial teaser trailer, everything on the Infinity War front halted, until the last few weeks brought tons of new information and footage for the superhero epic. That doesn’t look to be slowing down anytime soon, but thankfully, the latest reveal isn’t something to turn your eyes from.
We’ve been pretty lucky when it comes to this film. Not only is it one of Marvel’s all-time greatest comic arcs, but every character from the previous 18 MCU films will be coming together. We’re freaking spoiled. And just as previous footage and promo images have done, these brand new posters showcase the brining together of all these amazing characters in truly incredible fashion.
It doesn’t come to much of a surprise to see the original Avengers – Iron Man, Captain America, Black Widow and Thor – getting prime poster position, with the next generation of heroes and supporting characters filling the spots around them. The head-scratcher here is obviously Scarlet Witch. Not to say that she isn’t an important character or just as popular/powerful, because she is, but she’s been a supporting character in just two films to this point. I am now second guessing just how big her role is in the film, especially since her boyfriend has an infinity stone in his forehead.
Once again, the absence of both Hawkeye and Ant-Man is looming over an Infinity War reveal. They’ve both been completely MIA from the beginning, and while Joe and Anthony Russo have explained that characters who don’t get the spotlight in this film, will play important roles in Avengers 4, it stills feels a bit odd that a character like Hawkeye – whose been around from the beginning – wouldn’t make at least a small appearance in any lead up promos. While it’s been teased that he will be on his own journey in Infinity War, it sounds like we’ll have to wait until next year to see Clint Barton.
What do you think of the new posters? Do you like the layout and character combinations? Are they hinting at anything or specifically for looks? Do you wish we’d see Hawkeye and Ant-Man somewhere? Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo and starring Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Don Cheadle, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olsen, Tom Holland, Benedict Cumberbatch, Paul Rudd, and Tom Hiddleston, Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters on April 27th.
