As we get closer and closer to May, lots of new toys, apparel and images are being released giving us a better understanding and view of the characters and what to expect in Avengers: Infinity War. Now Funko has released their line of Pop! figures for the upcoming movie as well as giving us our first look at how Thanos’ Black Order will look in the movie.
As you can see in the line up there is pretty much two versions of each character with the exclusion of a few characters. The first set shows us Iron Man with and without his
mask. Spiderman in his Iron Spider suit as well ask his mask off. Next is a normal Thor and Thunder Thor. Although he does seem to have both eyes. Then we have Captain America in normal stance and fighting stance. Notice he does not have a white star on his chest. Next is a blonde Black Widow holding a baton. Then we have Groot playing his handheld video game and the other holding a gun. Next is Thanos with his full stoned Infinity Gauntlet and Thanos creating some type of beam. Followed by Proxima Midnight and Corvus Glaive. Our last Avenger which is a bright pink Vision. And filling out the Black Order is Ebony Maw and Cull Obsidian. They all seem like really cool buys but I wan’t to focus on Thanos’ Black Order as in my opinion it gives us our best looks so far at what these four characters are going to fully look like. While we don’t know anything official for how they will be portrayed in the movie, we do however have the comics to compare to.
First we have Corvus Glaive. In the comics he is Thanos’ right hand man. He is basically general of sorts for Thanos. One thing from the comics that will be interesting if they translate over to the movie is that while he holds his staff or blade, he cannot die. So look for that in the movie. It is also capable of splitting atoms meaning it can cut through anything including the thought skin of the Hulk. He is married to Proxima Midnight and is the brother of Cull Obsidian.
Next is Proxima Midnight, wife of Corvus Glaive. Proxima Midnight is a fierce fighter that wields a spear that in the comics is controlled by hear, similar to Captain America’s shield. The spear carries a lethal toxin that is so powerful that in the comics reverted Hulk back to Bruce Banner. It is also heavy once it makes contact and can only be lifted by her, like Thor’s hammer.
Third is Ebony Maw. Ebony Maw is not so much a fighter as he is a manipulator. He is more than likely going to be the equal to that of Dr. Strange in the movie. His power includes deception and manipulation just from talking. I wouldn’t be surprised if they give him some sort of magic ability also so look for that.
Finally is Cull Obsidian, brother of Corvus Glaive and brother in-law to Proxima Midnight. In the comics he is called Black Dwarf, but small he is not. He is basically the muscle of the Black Order. He is basically the equivalent to the Hulk and is said to have unbreakable skin. In the comics he wields two large axes but in the Pop! figure he is holding two unknown metal objects.
So there you have it. A lot to process but a lot of food for thought. But let me know in the comments below what you think about these Pop! figures and what you think the might translate into the movies!
