First ‘Venom’ Trailer to Drop Tomorrow; See the First Poster

2018 is absolutely loaded with comic book movies. Not only do we have a game-changing film like Black Panther, the universe-culminating film Avengers: Infinity War and the highly anticipated Deadpool sequel, but we have a standalone film about an anti-hero, the fan-favorite Spider-Man character Venom. We were wondering if Sony would drop anything during last week’s Super Bowl for Venom, as it would’ve been the perfect spot to let everyone know this movie is coming. But it seems they had other plans, and rather than share the spotlight, take it all at once as its first trailer has been announced for tomorrow.

Venom has actually been in development for a long time, as it was first being developed when Sony was trying to connect the dots in their Amazing Spider-Man universe. Unfortunately, that universe crashed and burned, and hard, where Sony then had to make a deal with Marvel Studios to bring life back into the franchise. With Tom Holland’s web-slinger kicking-butt over in the MCU, Sony then turned their heads to Venom to try and start their own universe, and got some good names behind it. Not only is Tom Hardy, Tom Hardy starring in the role of Eddie Brock, but Zombieland director Ruben Fleischer is leading the project.

As of right now, there’s still much to be learned about the direction they’re taking the character and story. We’ve heard rumblings that it will draw from two particular storylines – Lethal Protector and Planet of . Nobody is sure, but hopefully tomorrow’s trailer will point us in one direction or the other. For now, check out the first poster above, which is a very fitting teaser poster for this movie. Venom also stars Michelle Williams and Riz Ahmed and will be released on October 5th.
