While Netflix is pretty new when it comes to major film releases, they already have an up on every other major studio, they can release a film whenever they want and as many as they want. In their latest film When We First Met, which no one had heard of until this morning and now has a first trailer, stars Adam Devine and Alexandra Daddario in a romantic comedy from The DUFF director Ari Sandel.
Because Netflix is an instant platform, they’re able to pull a John Wick whenever the hell they want to. This time, it’s dropping a trailer just two weeks before it becomes available for viewing. It’s actually pretty exciting stuff, because not only do we Netflixer’s have something new to watch here very shortly, but it actually looks like a fun time. I’ve never personally been a huge fan of Adam Devine’s style of comedy, but I think given the right role he could be pretty charismatic and funny on screen. As for his fellow cast members, there’s not really anything bad I can say about any of them.
Sandel’s The DUFF wasn’t no Mean Girls, but it was definitely better than what most people thought. It was a good time and had a ton of heart to it, which is something When We First Met looks to have plenty of. Also starring Shelley Hennig and Robbie Amell, When We First Met is released on Netflix on February 9th.
A guy (Adam Devine) spends the perfect first night with the girl of his dreams only to get stuck in the friend zone for the next three years – until he gets the chance to travel back in time to change that night, and his fate, over and over again.
