First ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’ Trailer Teases a Fun, Upbeat Sequel

Marvel Studios has revealed the first trailer for this summer’s upcoming sequel Ant-Man and the Wasp! As promised last night at the Black Panther world premiere, the first official trailer to Peyton Reed’s Ant-Man is now available for your viewing, and boy did they deliver. We don’t know, officially, what the story will entail, but one can imagine that the film will bring together Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) to enter the quantum realm and find Hope’s mother, the original Wasp Janet, who is played by Michelle Pfeiffer.

The trailer doesn’t give much away about the story at all, so if you watched the trailer looking for any kind of detail revolving around that, you may end up being disappointed. What you can’t be disappointed about is how good the sequel looks. Peyton Reed seems to have taken a whole new direction to the sequel, giving it an awesome buddy cop vibe that reminds me of the past. I also love the idea of Rudd and Lilly’s characters forming an actual team. While their powers are surprising powerful, the two of them together are only stronger and have a better chance. Reed seems to have found a cool way to separate some details between them as well, such as Wasp’s wings and blasters.

I’ve been nervous going into this one when it comes to the comedy side of it all. I’ve wondered if they’d be able to differentiate themselves from the last one or if it would be much of the same. As you can see in my reaction below, I clearly had a good time with all the bits and gags they used. I particularly like the Civil War tie-in because it was a head-scratcher as to why her character wasn’t introduced in that movie. Either way, Ant-Man and the Wasp looks like some major summer fun.

Check out the first trailer below and as always, leave your thoughts in the comments below! Did you have a good time watching it? Are you excited for another major female character? Did you not like anything about? Also starring Michael Douglass, Michael Pena, Laurence Fishburne, Walter Goggins, Hannah John Kamen, Bobby Cannavale, Judy Greer, T.I., and David Dastmalchian, Ant-Man and the Wasp shrinks into theaters on July 6th.

From the Marvel Cinematic Universe comes “Ant Man and the Wasp,” a new chapter featuring heroes with the astonishing ability to shrink. In the aftermath of “Captain America: Civil War,” Scott Lang grapples with the consequences of his choices as both a Super Hero and a father. As he struggles to rebalance his home life with his responsibilities as Ant-Man, he’s confronted by Hope van Dyne and Dr. Hank Pym with an urgent new mission. Scott must once again put on the suit and learn to fight alongside the Wasp as the team works together to uncover secrets from the past.
