Was the Fate of a ‘Suicide Squad’ Character Revealed via an Instagram Post?

While Suicide Squad hasn’t been one of the more popular comic book movies, it introduced a bunch of DC comic book characters to us. While there was a good amount of popular characters introduced in the movie like Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn, Will Smith’s Deadshot or Jared Leto’s Joker, one of the lesser known or popular characters from the movie was that of El Diablo played by actor Jay Hernandez.

In the movie El Diablo was a bit of a reformed villain as he refused to use his powers SUICIDE SQUADthroughout most the movie due to him accidentally killing his family. By the end of the movie El Diablo “sacrifices” himself to help the Suicide Squad defeat Enchantress and her brother. What we never find out is if his character survived. Well we might have gotten our first clue to whether or not El Diablo survived.

On January 19th actor Joel Kinnaman who plays Rick Flagg, Jai Courtney who plays Captain Boomerang and Jay Hernandez who played El Diablo all posted a picture on their Instagrams with each other. While Jai Courtney and Jay Hernandez had pretty basic captions for the picture, Joel Kinnaman left a caption that has many guessing that El Diablo may be back in the sequel. Kinnaman put:

Brendan whipping us back into shape. Jay puked. #garagegym

The words that everyone is banking on is “whipping us back into shape”. While it could just be a bunch of friends hanging out, it is pretty ironic that Kinnaman would say “back into shape” around the same time that the untitled Suicide Squad 2 is in pre-production. Could this mean that we are going to see El Diablo back apart of the Suicide Squad for the sequel? Only time will tell!

So what do you think? Do you think El Diablo will be in the Suicide Squad sequel? Does El Diablo even need to be in the sequel? Could we just be overlooking this whole entire thing! Let us know what you think in the comments below!

  1. I had high expectations for this film…and that was my mistake. I thought I’d see more of the new Joker in Jared Leto…that didn’t happen, alongside many other aspects!
