Anything involving Will Smith immediately captures my interest. Just the other night I finally saw Bright, the Netflix produced feature directed by David Ayer, and really enjoyed it. Next up for Smith is the action thriller Gemini Man, where according to the report from JoBlo sees Smith play an “aging assassin who tried to get out of the business but finds himself in the ultimate battle: fighting his own clone who is 25 years younger than him and at the peak of his abilities.” The same report confirms that Clive Owen (Inside Man, Children of Men) will star opposite Smith in the antagonist role. Yes, you should be very interested in this film considering its two leads.
Oscar winning director Ang Lee (Brokeback Mountain) will direct the film, and with already a wide range of genre films under his resume, Gemini Man will be yet something different. Although my attention is on the Thrilla in Manilla, Ali/Frazier 3-D biopic that Lee has been working on for years, I wouldn’t mind waiting a bit longer just to see Smith on the big screen again.
GEMINI MAN is set for a October 4, 2018 release.
