First ‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’ Trailer Teases a Dark, Explosive Sequel

Universal has finally released the first full-length trailer for Jurassic World: Fall Kingdom, the massively anticipated fifth entry into the storied Jurassic franchise. Universal looks to J.A. Bayona, who takes over for director Colin Trevorrow, who led the rebootquel Jurassic World to a $1.6 billion box-office haul. Trevorrow stayed on as co-writer, executive producer and advisor for Fallen Kingdom.

As teased in the initial teaser, the sequel’s story finds Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard’s character returning to Isla Nublar to not start a new theme park or explore the different kind of species, but rather evacuate the remaining population of Dinosaurs that have overtaken the island. But to make everything worse, Bayona has put a huge obstacle in the way, an exploding volcano.

As Pratt says in the trailer, this is going to be awesome. I dig the trailer. Is it a bit silly? Sure, but who cares! It’s full of insane action and beautiful shots that will make for one damn good experience. But here’s the thing, this isn’t just some summer popcorn flick. If you’ve seen Bayonne’s previous films, you know the kind of potential this sequel has. While the story may seem silly to the naked eye, thinking of it as “they are trying to prevent the second excitation of the dinosaurs” makes it seem much cooler.

There’s also another element that hasn’t been felt since the original, that frightening factor. It’s not full on horror, but it definitely has a darker tone than its predecessor. But what makes that aspect so interesting is that both the humans and dinosaurs are in the same amount of danger, as survival is the ultimate key in the story. Plus I can’t go without mentioning the pure look of the film. It’s beautiful, scene-to-scene. Fallen Kingdom promises to be an experience in more ways than just one.

Watch the first official trailer below and after, make sure to leave your thoughts in the comments! Did you like Jurassic World? Did you like the trailer as much as I did? What do you think of the story this time around? Bayonne’s Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom stomps into theaters on June 22nd, 2018.

It’s been four years since theme park and luxury resort Jurassic World was destroyed by dinosaurs out of containment.  Isla Nublar now sits abandoned by humans while the surviving dinosaurs fend for themselves in the jungles.

When the island’s dormant volcano begins roaring to life, Owen (Chris Pratt) and Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) mount a campaign to rescue the remaining dinosaurs from this extinction-level event.  Owen is driven to find Blue, his lead raptor who’s still missing in the wild, and Claire has grown a respect for these creatures she now makes her mission.  Arriving on the unstable island as lava begins raining down, their expedition uncovers a conspiracy that could return our entire planet to a perilous order not seen since prehistoric times.

With all of the wonder, adventure and thrills synonymous with one of the most popular and successful series in cinema history, this all-new motion-picture event sees the return of favorite characters and dinosaurs—along with new breeds more awe-inspiring and terrifying than ever before.  Welcome to Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom
