See New Clips & Posters for ‘Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle’

Sony has released three new clips and a batch of character posters for their upcoming Christmas release Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. The reimagining of the cult classic Robin Williams film has traveled through some rough terrain since its first traveled, as it was heavily bashed for how incredibly different it was from the first, including myself. While it had an opportunity to return to the magical world of board game animals, it just felt like it was continuing the trend of turning everything into a straight comedy. But could I be wrong?

The first round of press screenings for the film have taken place over the last week or so and the word of mouth has not been what I was expecting. Surprisingly, many of the film pundits I follow on the worldwide web had fun with it. Not that it’s fantastic or one of the best of the year, but that it was more enjoyable than they were expecting. Is that possibly due to pretty low expectations?

I’m still a bit hesitant towards the look of this film. The first holds a very special place in my heart. Not just because of Robin Williams, but because I was a kid when it came out. It was the greatest movie ever, as well as one of the scariest. And when I saw the first trailer for this sequel/reboot/reimagining, I was just frustrated. I was pissed that they turned this world into some dumb comedy franchise with Kevin Hart as one of its leads. It still makes me mad, but I’m going to give it a chance. Are my expectations low? Very, but I also wouldn’t be surprised if it did surprise me. Hopefully it gives me some good holiday fun in just a short few weeks.

Check out the brand new clips and posters below, and make sure to head down to the comments to leave your thoughts. How are you feeling about Welcome to the Jungle? Same as me or complete opposite? What do you think of the cast? Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle stars Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, Jack Black and Nick Jonas and opens everywhere on December 20th.
