The success of It has brought many things over the last few months. Not only did it crush all over the globe at the box-office, but it’s officially the most successful horror film ever made. Ever. Aside from dominating success of the film, the burning questions as to who will be playing the adult versions of the Losers Club have been simmering for weeks now, and while we may not know for at least a few more months, one of the most prestigious names in Hollywood has thrown her name in the mix for It: Chapter Two.
Since the day the film came out, we’ve been wondering who would play the older versions of Mike, Beverly and the rest of the Losers Club when the sequel arrives in 2019. We’ve all had conversations about who we want to play and who we think will, and while it’s no confirmation or an official lock, Jessica Chastain has now thrown her name into the mix. While promote her new film Molly’s Game, she sat down with Screen Rant where they asked her about the possibility of playing Beverly in Chapter Two, where she said the following:
Well, I love Andy and Barbara. I worked with them on Andy’s directorial debut, you know, his film, Mama. His first film. And you know, Barbara is one of my best friends so…
Listen, of course, I want to work… they’re my friends. They’re like my family. Anything that they’re doing I want to be a part of, so I hope we can make it happen.
As Chastain notes, she has a very close relationship to director Andy Muschietti and his sister Barbara, as they worked together on Mama. I’ve had a wish list of actors for these roles for weeks now, with most of them being names that will more than likely never be courted because their big names, but Chastain is different. Her relationship with the Muschietti’s actually make the idea of her playing Beverly 20 years later a big possibility, not to mention that she’s already gotten her feet wet in the horror genre.
Again, take this with a grain of salt for now as it’s not official, but it’s more than likely that we’ll be hearing casting announcements over the next few months as it’s expected to see the sequel begin production next Spring. With her comments teasing that she’s all game for the horror/thriller sequel, my hopes are at an all-time high to see her name on the official cast list.
What do you think losers? Is Chastain a perfect choice for the role of Beverly? Is there anyone else that comes to mind? What did you think of It? Chapter Two is officially slated for September 2019.
