Well folks, the day we’ve all been waiting months for has finally arrived. As speculated for weeks and officially revealed to be true early last week, we nerds will be granted the opportunity to get a new brand new look at Star Wars: The Last Jedi tonight, thanks to a new trailer, that will air during tonight’s Monday Night Football game on ESPN. How long will it be? What will it show? Will it give us answers? Well, according to director Rian Johnson, it may feature some thing you might want to consider avoiding.
When we look back on the trailers for The Force Awakens, there are a few things we could look at and think, “Okay, I guess that’s a spoiler.” Either way, at the time we didn’t know and although some like to pick apart footage and find the most extreme details, not once did I hear anyone say that the trailers ruined their overall experience. That seems to be the exact case for tonight’s new trailer. Director Rian Johnson responded to a fan on Twitter, and although he says to possibly avoid the new trailer, he also hints that the new footage is incredibly irresistible:
“I am legitimately torn. If you want to come in clean, absolutely avoid it. But it’s gooooood…”
Now, of course, this could be taken one of two ways. I’m with Johnson on this one. I would love to be able to have enough self control to stay away from anything on this film and walk in with the clearest head possible, but I know that’s not going to happen and after reading these new comments, I’m 100% losing my mind over this new trailer. But for those of you who may be on the fence for watching this new trailer, this might be the turning point in your decision. But like Johnson says, it’s “gooooood,” so good luck trying to hold back from clicking play.
What do you think of these new comments? Do they sway your decision to watch it one way or another? Or are you like me and nothing can stand in your way from watching the new trailer in all it’s glory?
