First Trailer for ‘Pokemon: I Choose You!’ Mixes Classic with New

We all by now know the story of Ash Ketchum and his buddy Pikachu. Well now we are getting a retelling of the original story in Pokemon: I Choose You!, the newest movie adventure from the Pokemon franchise. The movie will be a loosely based retelling of the original Indigo League saga of the television show. The movie was made as a way of celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Pokemon company.

While the story seems to be telling the class story of the beginning of Pokemon, the MV5BZTc2MzdkZGEtODM1Zi00ZjIyLThhZGItMGE5NDNhNTA2YWNjXkEyXkFqcGdeQXVyNjQ0MTEzNzc@._V1_SX1777_CR0,0,1777,999_AL_trailer seems be showing a very different version at the same time. If you notice in the trailer, it does not show classic characters Brock and Misty, who Ash befriends in his journey and are with Ash quite a while throughout his story. Another clue that it is going to be a little bit different would be the Pokemon that are in the trailers. While we see classic characters like Pikachu, Charmander and Meowth, we see Pokemon from the later generations past the Indigo League such as Entei, Incineroar, or Lucario.

So as you can see we will be getting a little bit of the Pokemon nostalgia that most of us grew up on, myself included, while getting a bit of a new story at the same time. As if it didn’t make some of us feel old enough, this will mark the first time that a Pokemon movie will be released in theaters since Pokemon Heroes: Latios and Latias, which was the last movie that was released in theaters in May of 2003. “Pokemon: I Choose You!” will be released November 5, 2017.

So what do you guys think about the trailer? Does this bring back all those old Pokemon feels? Will you be checking out the movie in theaters? Let me know in the comments below and tell me what you think about Pokemon: I Choose You!
