It’s almost here folks. After nearly 60 years since first appearing in the pages of DC Comics, the DC super-team is finally making a jump to the big screen. The film is now officially arriving next month and with that will come a ton of new tidbits and looks over the new few weeks from the biggest news outlets on the planet. And as usual, the UK’s Empire Magazine is the first to jump at the chance at revealing all the goodies they have hidden in their very deep vault.
Starring Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, Ezra Miller, Ray Fisher and a who knows how big of a role from Henry Cavill, Justice League follows a rejuvenated Bruce Wayne who, after the selfless act laid down by Superman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, enlists the help of his new found ally Diana Prince a.k.a. Wonder Woman. Together, they quickly recruit a team of metahumans to stand up against an unimaginable threat, one that may have catastrophic proportions on the planet.
To be honest, I didn’t really get all that excited the I woke up to this image this morning. It’s just too similar to all the other team images we’ve gotten over the last few months. Same poses, same order of the characters. But there are two things worth talking about.
One is the look of Batman. Batman has had a funky look in the marketing, which kicked off with that weird character poster that featured a bright silver logo on his chest. But for the first time, I see the Dark Knight I want. A clear dark great body suit with the classic cape and cowl. That’s my Batman. Second is the overall color of the cover. It’s bright and very vibrant, something that has never been in the same sentence as DC movies or the DCEU. Now it may just be Empire flashing up the cover a bit or it could actually be a tease to the tone of the film we’ll see next month, either way, it’s actually one of the few things I like about it.
Empire is notorious for dropping a fancy new cover and then continuously revealing information over the next few days. A new still was already released this morning, which came with some quotes from Affleck and Gadot where they talked about the tone, size and overall feel of this movie. That’ll be up a bit later today. Hopefully this new cover means we’ll be getting some cool new things over the next few days as I’ve been wondering where the hell this movie has been over the last number of weeks. Hopefully this means the movie is not just on track, but where they want it to be, because no matter if you’ve liked or disliked the DCEU so far, we all want this movie to succeed.
What do you think of the new cover? Is it too flashy or just what you want? Which character look is your favorite and who are you most excited to see in the movie? Justice League will be released on November 17th.
