Many have began to wonder what the true status of Warner Bros. and DC’s massive Justice League film is. Tragically, earlier this year called for a director swap as Zack Snyder had to step down for major family reasons, leaving Joss Whedon to take the reigns and try to bring the film across a successful finish line. With the film now just a month and a half away, we’re beginning to wonder where the film is in post-production. Is it taking longer than expected for Whedon to finish? Are there unannounced issues? They wouldn’t delay it would they? Hopefully we’ll have a solid answer sooner rather than later, but then again, WB and DC may have just answered that question with a new set of character posters.
Around the time of SDCC this year and even before, it seemed like we were getting new tidbits and looks at the massive team-up film every other day. Posters, images, story details and a whole lot of other information and looks that were beginning to get people excited. But over the last two months, we’ve heard or seen very little on Justice League, with most of the “new reveals” being footage or images we’ve already seen. Luckily that looks like it’s about to change as a new batch of posters were revealed yesterday, giving the JLA heroes almost an old school feel with certain colors and a side profile that’s reminiscent of some of the more popular Justice League entries from over the years.
It’s also worth noting that while the colors are the home colors of each of our heroes, could it have a hidden message? Say screaming a lighter and maybe even more fun tone? That’s been the steaming hot topic when it comes to this film. And with WB choosing Joss Whedon to bring the project home, it would not be surprising if that is in fact the case. I don’t care either way, I just want a good movie, whether it’s darker or lighter in tone. I didn’t mind the tone of Batman v Superman, it just wasn’t a good movie. From the writing to the editing, that’s not what I want from this movie. Hopefully the studio and its DC team have learned from the mistakes that have turned a lot of people off of these new DC movies.
Check out the new posters below and let me know what you think in the comments. Do you like the structure and color scheme? Which one’s your favorite? What kind of anticipation do you have for Justice League? Starring Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, Ezra Miller, Ray Fisher and Henry Cavill, Justice League is released on November 17th.
