Lionsgate Films has unveiled the first trailer to their upcoming reboot of the long-living Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise, Leatherface. The reboot is a fresh start for the franchise, as it goes back to its true roots and follows a teen who is destined for tragedy and horror that mold him into the monster known as Leatherface.
I’ve become a big fan of the horror genre over the last few years, but I can’t say the same about the gore genre. Sure, they’re classified in the same genre, but they are far different from each other. And the more gore doesn’t always mean this type of film will be successful. I’ve been reading everyones reactions to the trailer around the web and am kind of shell shocked at how many enjoyed this first trailer. I mean, it’s alright. It’s nothing that special. The only thing I can think of that could make fans excited is the fact that it goes back to the origin of the horrific character. Other than that, I’m not too sure as to why the trailer looks so good. This franchise has gone through some major ups and downs over the years and to me, it doesn’t look like anything has changed.
Check out the first trailer below and after doing so, give me your thoughts in the comments. Are you a fan of these movies? What do you think of the trailer? Will it return to franchise gold or be another failed attempt? Directed by Alexnadre Bustillo and Julien Maury, Leatherface is released on October 20th, 2017.
Follows the kidnapping of a young nurse by four violent teens who escape from a mental hospital and take her on a road trip from hell. Pursued by an equally deranged lawman out for revenge, one of these teens is destined for tragedy and horrors that will destroy his mind, molding him into the monster, Leatherface.
