Steven Soderbergh’s Logan Lucky has received its first clip. Soderbergh claimed to have stepped down from filmmaking a handful of years ago, but luckily for us film buffs, he has made a return and it looks to be glorious. Logan Lucky follows Jimmy Logan as he tries to turn his families luck around after 90 years. With a little luck from his family and friends, Jimmy plans to pull off the ultimate heist and rob the Charlotte Motor Speedway of $14 million.
Words can’t describe how much I’m looking forward to this film. Not only is Soderbergh at the helm, but the cast is outrageous. On the surface, we see names like Channing Tatum, Adam Driver, and Daniel Craig. But as the story unfolds, others like Seth MacFarlane, Riley Keough, Katie Holmes, Katherine Waterston, Sebastian Stan, and Hilary Swank. Even if the film didn’t look interesting, which it definitely does, this cast would easily get my ass into the theater.
As far as the trailers and this clip go, my excitement continues to grow. If you’re a film fan, Soderbergh’s work always makes an impact on you. But I can’t help but watch footage for this movie and think to myself, “wow, could this end up as my favorite Soderbergh film?” The performances not only look fantastic, but so different from what many of the actors have done in the past. The story is truly intriguing, a heist comedy taking place around the world of NASCAR is something we just don’t see everyday. And this clip, it’s an even better preview of the kind of tone we’ll be dealing with later this year. It’s safe to say that Logan Lucky is one of my most anticipated films for the rest of 2017. Logan Lucky races into theaters on August 18th, 2017.
The Logan’s are a blue-collar family from the hills of West Virginia, and their clan has been famous for its bad luck for nearly 90 years. But the conniving Jimmy Logan (Channing Tatum) decides it’s time to turn the family’s luck around, and with a little help from his friends, the Redneck Robbers, he plans to steal $14 million from the Charlotte Motor Speedway on the busiest race day of the year. A heist movie with a difference: Steven Soderbergh, the director of the Ocean’s Eleven trilogy and an A-list cast including Channing Tatum, Daniel Craig and Adam Driver deliver a smart, thrilling and funny blue-collar story of an audacious multi-million dollar robbery.
