First ‘Pitch Perfect 3’ Trailer: Let’s Aca-Finish This

Universal has released the first official trailer for Pitch Perfect 3. The upcoming threequel finds the Barden Bellas in a bit of a struggle after graduation when they’re gone their separate ways. But when an opportunity arises to get the band back together one last time, this group of awesome nerds comes together for some music and questionable decisions.

From the looks of the trailer, Pitch Perfect 3 could be the biggest cash-grab of 2017. I understand wanting to complete a trilogy, especially after the buzz the first two films created. But what made this franchise so attractive from the beginning is the chemistry between the main cast. Sure, the jokes and gags and unusual world of Acapela was a nice supporting piece, but these movies wouldn’t have been so successful if the likes of Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, and others were involved. Unfortunately, as what seems to happen with most franchises these  days, producers and directors believe action and explosions is the way to go.

Why would the Bardel Bellas, an all girl signing group, be jumping off a boat with a giant explosion behind them? Why would the Barden Bellas be suited up with parachutes while the hanger door of a C-17 aircraft is open? I’m hoping that this film relies heavily on the workmanship of Kendrick and company, as their goofs are largely the reason why I went to see these movies. But If I continue to see more left runs for the franchise, I’ll probably end up passing on these pitches’ last call.

Watch the new trailer below and after doing so, let me know what you think in the comments. Do you love these movies? Are you looking forward to a a third? Am I right or should I hold my judgement until I see more? Pitch Perfect 3 opens in theaters on December 22nd, 2017 and stars Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Hailee Steinfeld, Brittany Snow, Anna Camp, Alexis Knapp, John Lithgow, John Michael Higgins, and Elizabeth Banks.

After the highs of winning the World Championships, the Bellas find themselves split apart and discovering there aren’t job prospects for making music with your mouth. But when they get the chance to reunite for an overseas USO tour, this group of awesome nerds will come together to make some music, and some questionable decisions, one last time
